Something like Blue Ridge, Dahlonega, Helen, etc. We like to eat and drink. Staying in a cabin or in town are options. TIA

I really enjoy the area up near Highlands, NC; Dillard, Sky Valley, Clayton etc.

Otherwise, Blue Ridge / Ellijay are nice.

Stay closer to Highlands.

lots of better eating and drinking in that area with Franklin, Dillard, Cashiers, Brevard all right near there as well.

Dahlonega is a great little town to visit. We stayed at Amicalola Falls Lodge many times.

Would you rec staying at blue ridge or dehlonega? The plan is to likely stay at one of the mountain towns for 2-3 nights and likely Chattanooga for a night or 2. We are looking for a quaint mountain town feel with some Christmas spirit. At the same time we want a little bit of action (bars/restaurants)

Drive time perspective, Blue Ridge is on 45 minutes maybe from Dahlonega. We've never found great places to stay there. Always stayed in Blue Ridge or Cherry Log.

We stayed here a couple of months ago and loved it!

One of our favorites (Near Cherry Log).

Some Other AirBnB's.

Check Out The Amicalola Falls Lodge! Only 20m from Dahlonega.

Dahlonega is a fun city to visit and have dinner, walk around etc. We've just never found anything other than Amicalola Falls Lodge that's even nearby that was worth staying in.

I like Dahlonega much more than Blue Ridge. I am not sure after christmas, but before, Dahlonega has dickens characters that walk around as well. They are both small, but IMO there is more within reach of dahlonega. However, where exactly are you staying?

Highlands>>>>>>both above though. Christmas is quiet there though. I have done it a few times. its nice. They have a nice Episcopal church downtown.

Dahlonega, there is a small college in town, so you get a few pizza places and bars near by. Outlets are down the road a bit, if you want a break.

Ill be there on Sunday for dinner, Ill see if they have anything going on listed yet.

ETA, I am simply talking about the towns above. like stated, where are you staying? because there isnt really a really close cabin scene right near town like Highlands, cashiers, etc...

We rented a house across the street once from the High Hampton Inn in Cashiers. The Inn does manage rentals. A really cool area to visit.

The square in Dahlonega looks like a postcard during Christmas time from all the lights and decorations the town puts up. Not a ton of options up there for lodging outside of an Airbnb/Vrbo though. Blue Ridge will have more options for food and drink. I would personally avoid Helen as a lot of the shops and restaurants close or run limited hours after Oktoberfest.

Probably going to grab a cabin near one of the towns (BR or Dahlonega). Trying to figure out which one to set up base. Sounds like neither will be a bad time. Leaning Dahlonega I guess--I've found some airbnb's that could work for both

I just saw this though. You are close to highlands btw.

But why not stay around here? Clayton has a few good restaurants and fortify which is one of top in state. Some shopping. Lots of hikes nearby. Some farmers markets. Highlands is like 30 min. Outdoor backcountry gun range, Dillard house and more.

What are you looking to do, who all is coming and what are the ages?

Dahlonega is a great Christmas town. Here is a good place to stay: LINK

I like both Dahlonega and Blue Ridge but the square in Dah plus the nearby wineries are where I'd rather stay. Comprehensive list of hotels: LINK

For restaurants, Capers has excellent Greek food, Bourbon Street good Cajun, Shenanigans decent burgers. Also a good sandwich shop and Italian place. Paul Thomas chocolates is one of a kind. LINK

Grabbed an Airbnb about 5 miles from Dahlonega for 3 nights. Plan to hit up some wineries, breweries, and maybe try some panning for gold. I’m sure we’ll make it over to Helen—not sure if we’ll make it to Blue Ridge unless everyone thinks it’s worth the hour drive. We’ll have our kids (10&13) with us.

Helen is rather small and filled with T-shirt shops. A miniature Gatlinburg. It was a dying town until the locals turned it faux German. Blue Ridge is much nicer and more to see.

Looks like the brewery scene is better around blue ridge too
