Problems with Pricline

So we are going to Colombia in June. Been watching ticket prices and finally decided last night to buy our tickets we are needing 6. Go through putting everyone’s name in and debit card info in and click buy. They give me a message that debit card purchase can not go through. Total price is around $3500. Money is there so that is not the issue. My question is could it be my bank not letting me make that big of purchase (capital one) or is it Priceline screwing me buy not honoring the price they quoted me? Anybody else have problems like this?

Is it a "The fare you selected is no longer available" message or that the debit card is no good? If it's a debit card message, I might assume it is your card and not priceline. However, I'm not sure if booking with the individual airline like Delta, United, etc. and booking the hotel separately works for you. I usually try and avoid booking with sites like priceline and book directly with the airlines and hotels

I find flight deals through 3rd party sites but book directly with the airline. I do book hotels through a 3rd party site for the rewards. However, I’m not as concerned about a screw up with a hotel as I am a flight.

This was just the flight we are booking hotels separately. My card is fine that should not be a problem. And I did the search and found the fare and booked right then so it shouldn’t be the fare is no longer available. So which leads me to believe that this is pricline not honoring the rate they quoted.

My guess is they have let's say 4 fares at the cheap price but 2 are higher thus leading to the problem. Try and book the flight on the airline's direct site (DL, United, AA) unless it's a weird connection involving multiple airlines/alliances. Let me know if you need further help

Sometimes debit cards have a limit they will allow of a purchase on them, so that could be an issue.
I've purchased through Priceline and never had an issue before.

2 things:
1. Call your bank and ask about your debit card having a limit. Could be that?
2. As said find the fare on the airlines website directly. If you search priceline or wherever for the fare, you can almost always find the exact same fare on the airlines website.
Its definitely better to book directly with the airline also. For one, you pick your seat immediately upon booking usually. When you book through a 3rd party you don't always get to pick your seat.
If you don't have a seat selected, you can get bumped if its over sold.
