How young is too young? How old is too old? What’s been your experience?

I see a lot of people saying that from 3mos - 1 year is an ideal time because they pretty much just sleep and eat. My wife almost has me convinced to take a 5 month old to Europe for 6 days.

Thoughts? Experiences?

What exactly is the point though. Seems like a waste of time where you will be taking care of the baby more than doing what you want to go out and do

Sounds like time to let the grandparents babysit and let mom and dad enjoy a week trip to themselves

I can’t imagine this trip being pleasurable hauling around shite for a newborn

Because most modern women won't leave "the baby" with anyone for months, or years on end, even for a few days.

What is the point? To have that baby suck on a Parisian croissant. To have them taste a pistachio creme macaron. To take pictures with the little bastard, so that when they start throwing temper tantrums later in life, you can shove it back in their face, "We didn't just take you to Disney and Mexico, you spoiled little crumb snatcher!"

Just go, OP. It's not like people overseas don't have babies, just bring ziplocked formula if you need it and snacks for the flight over, as well as a handful of pacifiers to equalize their ears. Who doesn't want their kid to take a nap in a park in Barcelona, in a baby Bjorn in Paris, etc?

If you have the funds and can't get a long term babysitter, do it
That is the best age to do a trip like that
Once kid starts walking or in the terror 2-3yo range, those trips become much more difficult
Europe would be perfect
