looking to go to europe in late septemeber/ early october. would like to take the direct on condor to frankfurt on sept 24th but dont want to fly condor back because a timing issue. when i look to book a round trip the departure flight is only 269, but when i change to one way it jumps to over 400 bucks. same goes on other airline sites when looking at options for return, where a one way from london or paris to MSY is listed as more than buying a round trip ticket. any insight into why this happens? Ive used kayak , google flights and the delta website and it seems to be the same regardless of which search program i use. any help is appreciated

Book it one way and skip the flight back.

one way flights

One-way flights are usually much more expensive than roundtrip flights due to the fact that for a one-way ticket the airlines will only sell you the most expensive economy fare (Y) instead of a reduced price fare (V, O, U, etc...). When are your travel dates besides sept 24th? I may be able to find something for you (may have to look tomorrow unless you answer quickly), or else your other option is to book your roundtrip to frankfurt and leave a day earlier or the morning of from your destination (london/paris) to go to frankfurt and catch the flight back to msy.

Didn't happen to me, and my one way return was on Qatar through Doha. Maybe because I have Global Entry? I thought it would raise some sort of flag, but nope. Going wasn't an issue either but that was IAH-AMS-ATH.

I figured out why your roundtrip pricing isn't working. It looks like Condor's last nonstop out of FRA to MSY is on Wednesday October 4th. It's weird, their outbound MSY to frankfurt flights are loaded for Sunday-Saturday (excluding Fridays) up to and including October while their return Frankfurt to MSY flights only include wednesdays and sundays June through October 4th. Something is definitely up with their site, now I'm not sure if they plan on cutting service completely for the fall/winter on Oct 4th or if they're keeping the twice a week service. Let's keep an eye on it, otherwise you will need to book on another airline for this trip
