Would you say Stowe was a good home base for getting to places like Woodstock and Burlington and everything in between?

Went a a couple years ago. Stowe is great. Woodstock, VT like another poster said is a great town. Mystic, CT is a cool little town. A lot of big houses in Newport, RI. Portland, ME is nice. NH, the Kacamungus Hwy is incredible. Great hiking up that way. The Flume is pretty cool to see in NH as well. Beautiful area. Drove through Burlington, VT, and it appeared dirty to me. I liked New Hampshire a lot. Didn’t spend alot of time on Maine, but want to go back up that way and do more of Maine.

I'm going to Kennebunkport in early October. Haven't been in about 7 years and never this late in the year. We always fly in to Portland and I'd really like to hang out there a little, but never have.

My son is going too and wants to drive to Salem, MA to check out the witch stuff which I guess goes on all month. Doesn't interest me at all and no he isn't a Wican.

Salem is overrated
It's worth a drive thru though to see all the Halloween decorations, and you could stop at the Hawthorne house and you could also hit Marblehead and Rockport as both are close proximity

If you're a foodie, I highly recommend Portland, Maine. You can do Portland and Portsmouth, NH in the same day. There's a costal drive from the NH border into Portsmouth that's beautiful.

In the opposite direction, Newport, Rhode Island is pretty cool, too. Four days is also ideal for Boston and Boston only. I wouldn't feel pressured to high tail it out of town.

About 40 minutes away in Scarborough is a candle and candy store with Lenny the moose, a life size chocolate moose. The candy is amazing.
