I booked a house in this location for the CFP game...how is this area overall? It's about a block from the Ruby Slipper if that gives any perspective.

House gets good reviews, etc...but just curious about the surroundings in general. We are planning on ubering to and from the game. Thanks in advance.

It’s not the worst location I’ve seen posted for an Airbnb. I wouldn’t park my car there long term.

It is fringe, but so is most of New Orleans. Some great spots to eat in the immediate vicinity.

5 years ago I would have told you you're fricking nuts.

Its quickly gentrifying but it is still got some rough areas. There's some decent restaurants and bars relatively nearby. There's still some really sketch parts up in there but you should be ok.

Dicey to say the least. Don't spend much time lingering outside. Lots of check cashing and convenience stores in that area.

I don't anticipate spending much time at the actual property other than to sleep. It also has off street parking so I am hopeful my vehicle will be ok.

Have to ask, because I’m considering Air BnBing mine in the general area...

How much did that cost you?

It's a 4bd/3bath house....cost $1,200. This was the only that appeared to be decent within a close distance to the dome.

It's NOLA, which means you are right by the new hospitals, and also right by the court house / jail.

The Tulane ave stretch, which you are near, is quickly, quickly gentrifying. A whole bunch of new condo/apt buildings have gone up for docs and medical people to live in.

For lunch one day get you a Patton's hot sausage po-boy at Banks Meat Market. I'd get it to go, though. Also got Betsy's Pancake house not far from there. Great place.

Parking at UMC is $8 for 24 hours. I wonder if they would let you park there for a few days. How long are you in town for? If you park off-street by your house... don't leave ANYTHING in the car that could entice one of our locals to do a smash and grab.

Coming in town Monday morning and leaving Tuesday morning.

Thanks for the tip regarding parking at UMC-seriously considering doing that if allowed as that is my primary concern.

Yikes. You're going to have to have lunch down the street at Marjie's to even start to make up for that ridiculousness.
