Niagara Falls mid October recommendations

Wife and I are going to Niagara Falls in mid October and are curious of the best views and reasonable accommodations.

I haven’t stayed near there, just in buffalo and it’s about a 30 min drive. The people I work with have said it’s worth it to walk across and stay at the Canadian hotels. Passport and a few bucks is all that’s needed.
If you’re into state parks, there are many around there but Letchworth offers amazing foliage variations in the time frame you’re going. It’s about a hour from buffalo, maybe a little more.

On the Canadian side there are lots of "view" hotels... Stayed at the Hyatt. It was pretty great.

We spent the night at Letchworth last October, can confirm the foliage view there. Thanks for the hotel recommendation.

An hour or two to walk around and look at the falls.

We were there this past July. Stayed at the Sheraton. Nice hotel on the American side and walking distance to everything. We walked to the Canadian side and spent about half the day there. Ride the Lady of the Mist, watch the fireworks. Nice, but we won't go back. Not much else to do there. Take a drive toward Watkins Glen or some of the Finger Lakes for some spectacular views of the trees changing colors.

We did the Canadian side several years ago, do not recall if we did Hyatt or Sheraton; but from what I recall you can't go wrong with either
The boat ride and journey beyond the falls were both pretty cool. We also did the trail walk to see the whirlpool, and if you like adventure courses the WildPlay was really cool. They did not have the zip line to the falls available when we went, but the "extended course" was pretty cool because you get to look right down over the whirlpool.
