Wife and I want to do a little get away for New Years this year. We are in Bham and would like to do a long weekend somewhere relatively close (no flying). We are not big city people and our partying days have long passed.

Initial thoughts are Mentone, Al, Natchez, Ms, Fairhope, Al, Blue Ridge, Ga.

TIA

I've never heard of Mentone and certainly wouldn't spend more time than necessary in Natchez. I hear good things about Blue Ridge but it has been overrun in recent years. I'd check out North Carolina. Cashiers area is great in the summer but may be pretty quiet in the winter. Asheville is also a great option but may be bigger than you're looking to visit.
