Thats not even the best deal when it comes to CP.

Check out this reddit thread:

I've literally been getting a companion pass every two years between me and my wife for the last 12 years.

You can get 50-80k bonus miles on some of their cards, and then turn around and get the business version to earn the missing points.

You want to do this ASAP since the year just started. Companion passes are good for the year they are earned and the next calendar year. So it behooves you to earn as fast as you can at the beginning of a year.

Get the Priority Card. The benefits were so good (better than the one the OP screenshot), I scoured the fine print to find the catch. There wasn’t one.

Yeah, I'm not advocating for the plus card...the offer it the companion pass for a year AND 30k points was what I thought was worth mentioning. I'm not eligible and have the premier already but I don't ever recall seeing CP as part of a signup offer for SW Visa. I've seen to 80k miles but never CP that I can remember.

They aren't offering a CP in that offer at all. Just highlighting that the 30k bonus makes it easier to get there in addition to the 2x points categories that I think are new. There are better SW card offers for CP as mentioned by other posters already.

Yes, they absolutely are. 30k points and companion pass for a year. It's not 30k as you work towards CP

It's a good deal. For gamers of CC yes it's easier to get the two card route for more points, but for average joe a year of Companion Pass it's a good deal. I have more SW points than I know what to do with, so I value the CP & ease of getting it more than the points. Having said that I'm already started on the 2 card route so this doesn't apply to me (although I may just try to refer my way instead of getting the personal card since I can probably sell someone on this offer).

To the poster who mentioned Alaska CP, the SW Companion pass works on unlimited flights for $11.20 RT. It's much better than the 1 flight per year that most other airlines offer for $100+.

I stand corrected. Thanks for the update. That does sound like a pretty good deal for sure if you fly alot on SW.

Agreed. If you’re close to MSY, Atlanta, houston, etc and don’t already have a card a year of CP can be pretty valuable with just two or three trips planned. Just using MSY, RT to Orlando is an easy $250, Austin $225, Boston $250.

With 30k points having about $390 in value and the ability to rack up $750-$1000 in free flights on just three trips that’s an incredible signup offer from Southwest (in relation to all of their normal and previous offers)
