Looking at a possible cabin trip to the area noted around North Georgia, southwest North Carolina, and southeast Tennessee. Looked at areas like cherry log, ivylog, Blue Ridge, Mineral Bluff, etc for myself and the Mrs and 4-6 very outdoorsy boys (depending on if cousins come) (4-11 years old). Doesn’t have to involve any eating out or attractions. Just hiking, creeks, trails, waterfalls, and hanging out at the cabin at night.
Any recommendations on trails that would be greatly appreciated. 2-3 hour hikes where we can picnic and they can just be baws.
I searched and all I could find was a thread bitching about Helen, Ga and that it’s a tourist trap, nothing else about this area.

If you drive to DuPont State Forest in western NC, there is a parking lot that serves as a trailhead for 3 waterfalls (Hooker Falls, Triple Falls, and High Falls). The trails aren't incredibly difficult, but the falls themselves are pretty awesome.
And it isn't far from Brevard. I know you aren't focused on eating out and all that, but it is a nice town to have nearby after spending a day in the woods.

Catawba Falls is right outside of Asheville and a fairly short hike.

Trail is closed until spring 2023. Its being completely overhauled for "visitor safety".

Fall creek falls in TN. Lots of hiking in nearby surrounding areas.

Transylvania County, NC has 256 waterfalls. That's the county that Brevard is in.

Whitewater Falls, which is in Jackson Co, NC (where Cashiers is) is the tallest fall east of the Rockies. It is an easy hike from the parking lot to the viewing area but there are miles of trails nearby. Jackson is next to Translyvania County.

You can swim/play in the water in some of the falls. This is Silver Run Falls which is south of Cashiers.

This is High Falls (there are two with that name in NC). This is the one just north of Cashiers and I am told it is a steep hike. It is located at the north end of Lake Glenville. If you stay near Cashiers you can rent a pontoon boat and ride around Lake Glenville. It's not big, you can see it all in a few hours.

There are 3 water falls on the lake including this one owned by an LSU fan.

Abrams Falls. You essentially walk alongside a creek for 2-3 miles, it’s a wider trail with a slight incline, and fairly easy as long as the rocks aren’t wet. Plenty of places to picnic and easy parking, too.
