This will be my fourth project in SE Asia, so i do have a good bit of experience traveling around the islands there. And the show i'm working at is set at a resort, so most of the job will be in Phuket and Samui. Probably going to keep it closer to BKK since the lady has to fly back on the 26th. Might punt it to the end of the job, but i do want to check it out along with Sri Lanka and Mumbai.

The Maldives is its own unique value proposition. The only thing I could really compare it to would be the likes of Fiji, Tahiti, etc. I haven't been to either but they're in the middle of nowhere and you aren't spending much time, if any, exploring the local culture. You basically land and go straight to your hotel for the duration of your stay.

Yeah I will be doing Marriott. I will have enough points for 5-7 nights depending on property. Its really the only way we can afford this trip is our Maldives hotel being paid for already pretty much.

Still be prepared to spend some $$$. I think our total bill for 4 nights at the Westin came to just shy of $2000 and we paid for the room in points. Food and beverage along with the transfers will add up fast.
