I get the silver spirits package for the premium wines. I think it is worth it although I found that the quality of wines was much better on the river cruises (especially Bordeaux) than the ocean cruise.

In all seriousness, we always get the silver spirits package. Mainly for the premium wines. But I will say on the ocean cruises because of the number of available venues you have a multitude of choices to get spirits and other specialty drinks that you don’t get on a river cruise.

True. That is one of the benefits of the ocean cruise.
Our first Viking cruise was in the Bordeaux region of France and they made available to us some fantastic and expensive wines that were not on the regular wine list.
On the Grand European they had some very good wines from the countries we were visiting.
On the ocean cruise, we just had the regular wine list.
In Santorini, we drove through scenic vineyards on the way to Oia and were given rave reviews of the quality of the wines.
Back on board, I asked a bartender in the atrium lounge if they had any wines from Santorini. His response was “Where is Santorini “. When I informed him that we were in Santorini at that very moment, he got the head bartender who told me that we had not a single bottle of Greek wine on board.
I found that surprising because the first five days of the cruise were in Greece.
No problem. The French and Italian wines did just fine.
