I can't remember the name but there is a really good Bosnian resturant right in the heart of Dubrovnik. Want to go back and do a stop over in Bosnia now
Probably Taj Mahal (weird name

Don't try to peel a langoustine like a crawfish. I found that out the hard way.

Barcelona is a top 5 city to visit in the world.
Basque country might have the best food in the Western world.
Southern Spain has great Moorish history.
Unbelievable food and wine throughout.
Relatively cheap compared to France and Italy.

That’s it. Didn’t eat there since we were going to Bosnia but it was on the list the VRBO host gave us.

I’ll just ask here, it seems like the AirBnB/VRBO experience is Europe is a bit mixed, possibly complicated by language barriers. For those that have been to Croatia, which lodging options have you used?
We had been planning a trip to the Grecian Isles until Croatia hit our radar, now it’s the clear leader

AirBnB for Hvar and Vis.

We are mid trip - did a VRBO in Dubrovnik for two nights (was supposed to be three, but we got stuck for the first night in ATL because our incoming flight was 3 hours late so we missed our connection. Made the best of it by going downtown by drinking watching Ga/Clemson on TV and seeing all the DragonCon freaks).
The place was in a great location, near Pile gate. Not the most luxurious accommodations but not bad. Panorama at the top of Mt Srd was booked but we got there early and sat inside. I did a quick visit to the war museum a few steps away while my wife had dessert.
We then stayed at Hotel Pine for two nights in Tivat, Montenegro. Enjoyed our stay there especially the Kotor Bay boat tour. Amazing scenery.
Onto Korcula for three nights, loved visiting the wineries. Bire Winery in Lumbarda was our favorite.
Food there everywhere was expensive for what we got.
Now we are in Siena and just had the best meal of the trip so far. Three more nights here then a night at Rome airport before a Friday flight home.
I may post pics upon return.

One of my favorite restaurants was in the Krka National Park after a long day of hiking around..
LINK
There is actually a plunge hole at the restaurant if sitting in running water is not enough. Only one thing on the menu, terrific fresh prosciutto, croatian sausages, cheese, etc
Like others have said, lots of open grilled squid, fresh seafood, rissotto, and oysters...if you get a chance, stop in Stone....best oysters in my life. This is not an exaggeration. Just amazing.
Our itenerary
Arrived Split - 3 nights 2 days
Hvar - 4 Days, 3 Nights
Korcula - 1 day 1 Night
Stone - 1 day (great old salt mine, nice fort to climb, etc..something that was not directly on the sea)
Dubrovnnik - 4 days, 4 nights...but one day did the trip to Montenegro and like others stated, loved Kotor Bay...

In Croatia currently and can confirm the food is amazing. The beef here has been fantastic as well as the seafood. Ston is famous for their oysters but I wasn’t overly impressed. Ate at 360 in Dubrovnik as well as Kopun and recommend both. On Hvar now and will head to Slovenia after a stop in Zadar.
