Exactly where in economy lot can you check the luggage? Easy to find? Have to have paid for bags online previously?

I know it and care not to do it. Simple as that. I enjoy the convenience of being able to walk to the terminal from my vehicle. My usual mode is to park at the terminal. Too many times I’ve had a delayed bus, delayed flight etc…. A few bucks is not a big enough deal to not park close.

Ground floor and yes, very easy to find but I never prepay for baggage. It's not 24 hours and it's not every airline (see below).

If you're facing where the shuttles pick you up, it's behind you to the left a little almost where you pull into the garage.

Participating Airlines: American, Delta, Spirit and United
Hours of Operation: 4 am – 4 pm
Must arrive at least 90 minutes before flight.
For Domestic U.S. flights only. International destinations are not eligible for bag drop service.
Government issued ID is required at check-in.
While the service is complimentary, airline baggage fees that the airline charges still apply.

Southwest Airlines Baggage Check-In is also available.

Hours of Operation: 4 am – 12 pm
Must arrive at least 90 minutes before your flight.

Take an 11+ day trip with a wife and two kids with all the luggage and walking from long term is not a convenience. People think it is because they don't know Economy, only what they think it's like. People are incorrectly equating proximity with convenience.

Solo travelers with one bag, maybe two, for short trips, especially those not even paying the parking costs anyway are a different category.

People asking for suggestions are not expensing this and for longer trips, where long term or off site is a consideration, Economy is the superior option for cost unquestionably and if you use the baggage check, it's more convenient as well.

Looks like, for 11 days and a few hours trip, short term is $300. Economy is $140

By using economy, you'll save $168 over short term and $120 over long term and will likely have the option to skip baggage check at the terminal.

They seem for all intents and purposes basically the same thing to me, with the only difference being a few extra steps associated with Long Term maybe.

The LT garage is what? 40 yards from the terminal entrance?

"It's WAY further than short term!"

To each his own. Did that exact thing in May for International trip for 10 days with 4 people. Very glad I did it too when plane arrived late at 3am. I am not worried about a few dollars on an expensive trip for parking where I can walk in and out of parking garage from the terminal. It’s a fraction of the trip price.

It's not JUST the few / hundred dollars. It's walking with the luggage, especially with kids in your group. Walking with with the luggage is what I am directly trying to avoid.

By Parking on the 4th floor of the economy garage nearest the elevator closest to the airport access road we MIGHT have to travel 100' with our luggage. From my truck to the elevator and elevator to baggage check which is near those elevators on the ground floor.

So, it's easier AND saves me money AND lets me skip the baggage check desk at the terminal.

When it's just me, different story.

When it's me, the wife, two teenage girls, packed for 10+ days for example, it's not being able to walk to and through the long term lot, it's having to. Being able to avoid that, plus save money, plus reduce the amount of people I deal with in the airport....gimme.

I understand. My thoughts are that everyone should do what they find fits them the best. I always enjoy seeing how others plan things. Safe travels!

Of course, but I guess it's just the principle for me. I don't like getting ripped off anymore than I already am when traveling out of MSY.
