I'm trying to take advantage of cancellations or vacancy opportunities and there are plenty. Family of 5 with 3 kids under 10. What beach should we focus on?
Destin
Navarre (never been)
30a
Beachfront
Decent selection of restaurants
Kids to play with on beach
Not a run down condo
Pool...with splash pad maybe?
Relatively close to non beach family entertainment
Thanks

Navarre should give you the best value. Is your family more the beach bum type or the go out to eat, water park, outlet mall, etc type of family?

Bumming it for sure, but we will need a couple nights out for the kids sake

Yeah, my vote would be navarre. Close enough to drive somewhere else for a night or two but better value on accommodations.

Might check in to Okaloosa Island also. Not many eating options on the island but a short drive into Destin

What site are you using to search properties?

Vrbo, then contacting directly.

Look at Destin West Resort in Ft Walton
Seems like it might work for you if it's still the same set up as last time we were there several years ago. The property has a beach side and a bay side with a walk over bridge connecting the two.
The bay side has a nice pool with a lazy river. On the beach side, there is a hotel next door. They used to let you have access to use their property and there was a small kids splash park and a very nice pool with a waterfall over a swim up bar. The hotel had kids activities as well.
The beach was not very crowded and overall it was nice being away from the crowds of Destin.

What is the difference between Ft. Walton Beach and Okaloosa Island? Almost everyone I know that goes there calls it Ft. Walton, but I guess all the beach front condos and such are more Okaloosa Island proper?
