Anyone have a recommendation?
No Sky Lounge but these are available.

Not even a debate. Centurion Lounge will always be better than PP lounge.

I actually visited both this past weekend, Centurion had a long arse like so I did PP.
Did some work and then went back to centurion lounge and just waited in the 20 minute line to get in.
PRO TIP — go to Ruby’s diner and have one of the best cheeseburgers you will ever eat. It’s in the main terminal and of course you will have to pay for it, but it was incredibly delicious.

I'd always take an AmEx lounge over a "The Club" lounge but it can get packed. My experience wasn't great due to crowds though

That seems to be the norm these days, even though they changed the friend requirements.
Its time for them to look at tiers/entrancce based off dollars spent on flights over everything else.

Seems like it would be easy to do. I got an email soon after I passed the spend threshold for free guest access. Centurion Card members get to jump the line completely but it would be nice if those spending that amount of cash on a personal Platinum card could get priority waitlist.

Centurion Lounge is nice if you don’t mind the $695 annual fee for Amex Platinum.
I canceled mine when it jumped to that.![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconbanghead.gif)

Yeah, because under rewards, airline purchases are a stand alone category at 5x points.

Depends on what you spend... My air purchases pay for that fee 2 times over in points.
So the airline credit, saks credit, walmart plus credit, streaming credit, etc... is all lagniappe.

That doesn't matter. You still have to spend $75,000 on the Platinum for the guest waiver.

Im talking about prioritizing a spend on flights as the priority for getting into Centurion.
Why should someone who spends 25k on flights get the same access to airport lounges as someone that only spends 5k on flights, but more on groceries and the likes? Those who fly more should be priority.

Few reasons.
1) Amex doesn't necessarily care that you're paying for flights over groceries with respect to airport lounge access status as you describe. Airline purchases benefit the airline, not Amex. (Except transaction fees as discussed below)
2) You're actually costing Amex more money by buying more airline tickets vs another spend category. 5x airfare is likely losing Amex money on the liability of paying those points to you. Amex would greatly prefer you spent $5,000 on groceries (1x points on Plat) vs $5,000 on airfare.
Now, as said in 1) even if the added spend on airfare was $20,000, again, they have little reason to care unless granting you that premium access drives card usage/annual fees enough. The transaction fees they earn on someone who "spends more" benefits them of course, but again, $20,000 on anything benefits Amex more than $5,000, and they'd rather you NOT spend it in a 5x category.
They'll only grant premium access to people who buy flights more than other card users if it leads to more card annual fees/usage without losing too many people who effectively lose the benefit.

This is spot on. It costs AmEx more when you maximize their bonus categories. I have a Gold Card as well where all my dining/restaurant spend goes as it's 4x points. Plat is Airfare and all my other day to day spend to hit the threshold for Guest access

I’m not saying I don’t understand why they don’t… Amex could give two shits who is in there.
I’m saying Frequent flyers should be priority for entry into Airport Lounges, but as is more and more evident FF status/priority is going by the wayside.

Aside from Delta Platinum/Diamond flyers being able to choose Sky Club access as an elite benefit, airlines have never encouraged this or had it as a priority.

I mean Delta does this for Sky Clubs, in the big airport lounges they have a separate priority line for Plat/Diamond.
And I think Amex does give some shits about who is in there, hence only allowing free guests for big card spenders and for Black card members.
I hear your point, and the airline lounges do prioritize the super frequent flyer by giving them free access with card attached. But CC lounges are really meant as a perk for their big spenders, they just happen to mostly be located in airports, although they have expanded to sporting venues, convention centers, and even a space in a NYC high-rise (anyone check that out?).

I think that's only for Centurion Cardholders

Centurion lounge has better food if you can get in. Platinum seems to be worthless these days because of long lines. If you have a centurion black card you get to skip lines.
