This made me laugh. I grew up in that part of the world and my dad called living in Shreveport "Outpost duty".

This. I understand the time constraints of only being able to spend 5 days in Europe. But you don’t attempt 3 different cities. That doesn’t sound fun at all.

I don’t remember going on “spontaneous” trips when our kids were young.
