Planning a honeymoon. I had a friend that went to a resort in the BVIs that gave their guests access to small Boston Whaler type boats to personally use. However, this resort has since closed (hopefully not for liability reasons from giving everyone a boat).

MY QUESTION: Has anyone ever been to a resort where you had access to your own private boat? I think this sounds awesome and would like to do this.

Not in the BVIs, but great nonetheless...

Fly to St Thomas, ferry to St. John (Gallows Point Condos), Get Captain Andy (Rhumb Runner) She'll take you to Tortola, Sandy Spit, And the other islands in the area. You get hammered and she drives. Win Win

That was probably Biras Creek.

Currently, your best bet is probably Bitter End Yacht Club, which have Whalers for use: BEYC

If I were planning a honeymoon in the Virgin Islands, though, I'd strongly consider Peter Island (BVI) or Caneel Bay on St. John (USVI).

We stay at Grande Bay (closer to bars and restaurants) and use Captain Steve and have the same experience. Great suggestion.

I second Bitter End Yacht Club, also check out scrub island, peter island, and if you are a baller: Oil Nut Bay.

Most resorts will offer a boat for private use, or set you up with a third party rental. I've sailed down there three times and have no interest in having that burden, stick to a skipper.

I've stayed on Peter Island. It's very nice, very expensive and very pretentious. We enjoyed it but I wouldn't stay there again. We did charter a boat from Paradise Water Sports on the island and had a blast that day.

May as well hit up St. Croix while you're at it if going to St. Thomas. Ferry there is only 15 minutes. Ferry to St John is about 2 hours I believe.

Just FYI. There's a ton of reefs. We were going to rent a boat but opted not to when we were told about them and the federal fines associated with hitting them.

There is no ferry to St Croix from St Thomas. St John is about a 15 minute ferry ride from Red Hook.

I'll be there for my honeymoon in 2 weeks. Staying in Tortola, with day trips planned to Jost, Virgin Gorda and Anegadda

If you want to get really rowdy one day visit the William Thornton (Willie T) at The Bight at Norman Island. Warning, it can get very raunchy and it's only accessible by boat. It's a no holds barred floating bar.

We stayed on St. John for our honeymoon and rented a boat with guide for the day. Took us to Willy T's and soggy dollar.

Favorite day of the week, by far.

I been to St. John 4 times and each time I did a day in the BVIs. In June, I am going to the Bitter End Yacht Club. If you do 7 nights, all meals & 12 excursions to other BVIs are included in the price, as is use of their fleet of kayaks, hobie cats, boston whalers, and paddle boards. I am looking forward to it. Only other cost will be alcohol. I booked through expedia and got a big discount. My boss went a year ago and said it was awesome.
