Get a boat with a captain and sail the BVI. You can also have a chef on board if you want. Or stay on St. John and do the day trip thing to the BVI.

Go to St. Lucia. Stay at the viceroy. Get the all inclusive package. Should be around 10k.

It annoys me when you take the time to answer the questions people ask ON THEIR TERMS and these idiot down voters rush in to tell you screw that, go to Cuba or Jamaica or Mexico. As if the OP can't make his own decisions. And like this is the Ville Platte Baw/Sams Club I Took My Old Lady on Vacation Board. On his honeymoon budget -we made honeymoon suggestions that fit -Bali, Polynesia, French Riviera, etc. I suggested French Polynesia because it specifically met all his criteria, specifically flight time. I also mentioned how he could do it MUCH cheaper if he wanted to. But now we know the correct answer was actually the Dominican Republic or some shite....

I only go to Orlando and Gulf Shores. And Cuba on my honeymoon. Maybe Jamaica if there is a buffet deal .

French Polynesia is definitely top of my list at the moment. Is the Bungalow worth it or just get a villa on the beach and save some dollars and throw them at some excursions?

Before this thread my top 2 were Bora Bora or US\British virgin islands.

I like the idea of all inclusive alcohol which isn't a possibility in Bora Bora from what I can tell but not a deal breaker.

As stated the flights don't really factor into the price. We've got 600k+ chase points. We can get wherever we want. Just don't want to be in the air for 24+ hrs both ways unless it's really worth it. The concept of doing it for 2 weeks does make it more doable though.

They don't call it Boring-Boring for no reason. There's more to do and see on some of the other islands, and there's a lot more local Polynesian culture. I've never been, but I think I'd spend a week on Bora Bora and the other week on Moorea and another island.

Reports that I have seen say that overwater is nice, but a beach villa may give you a better view.

I'd pick Bali over French Polynesia. More potential side trips/excursions, more interesting food, not as pricey.

Don’t count out Moorea ( just look at the pics) to save a few bucks. There is a coral reef around the entire island so the waves break a mile out and the water is crystal clear, placid and perfect. The snorkeling is world class. You can swim from moth to motion if you are a strong swimmer. You can get a regular bungalow on the beach at the top rated hotel on TripAdvisor for around $300-350 a night. Buy some booze in LA , get mixers at the store, you have 60 or so restaurants to choose from. And then maybe hop over to a higher priced place in Bora Bora and splurge a bit if you want. It’s the kind of place where you wake up early and max out the beach and water and crash early . Sleepy, old school, maximum relaxation. The opposite of Ibiza.

If I were to do French Polynesia I think I would try and do something like a Tahiti, Moorea, Bora Bora combo.

What time of year did yall go? How was the weather? We would be going end of November which is basically right at the end of their dry season it appears and temp around 70-80.

I went in late October/early November. The weather was perfect. Warm and dry. The planes land in Papeete and then you take a ten minute flight to Moorea ( it crashed with all souls lost once) or a 45 minute flight to Bora Bora. I think people overpay for hotels when the water and scenery is free. Most hotels are “ hut style “ - individual bungalows , and not the over water style.

I honeymooned for three weeks in the South Pacific. The weather every day was the same. Perfect. This was October into November.

We did Papeete, Bora Bora,, Moorea, Fiji and Maui.

I personally like Asia more too but it’s more about the flight time. 8 hours versus 23 hours. Which was the OP’s prerequisite.

Since flights are not included in your 10K budget, I vote for the Maldives! You can get all inclusive packages there. Besides the beach and water activities, there's not much else to do there -- so perfect for a honeymoon!

Cook Islands. Direct flights out of LAX for $600-700 and with $10k you could have a great vacation at some of the nicer resorts.

Do you think Virgin islands area is risky in November? Some of the resorts that have been discussed in this thread say they are closed til 2020 for repairs from Dorian and other storms.
