Looking for some advice. Getting married next November. Me and the future misses looking for a beach\tropical trip for 7-10 days. Budget is ~10k (flights not included). Want to chill and get drunk most days and the other days have some nice excursions planned.

Bouncing back and forth from doing all-inclusive or not. We plan on drinking a good bit but some of the cooler areas we want to go don't have much of an all-inclusive set up.

Have done Cancun\Cabo\Jamaica\DR already.

To sum that all up..

10k budget
Lots of drinks
Beautiful beaches\water
Cool excursions.

TIA

My wife and I went to Bali and loved it. Checks all of your boxes, too.

Wife and I did this in BVI. We stayed at Peter Island. Very nice but I think I would have preferred to split the time betwen Peter Island and maybe 1 or 2 more resorts/islands. I would have liked to have seen more of the islands/beach bars.

We did do Joste Van Dyke and Norman on a day trip from Peter Isl.

I had looked into Bali and also the Maldives but the flights just look stupid long. Over 26+hrs to get there /w 2-3 stops.

How would you say the flying situation was for yall? and where did yall stay?

Read about BVI and Jost Van Dyke for a day trip on here before. Where did yall stay on Peter Island and was it all-inclusive?

All in all it really wasn't bad, but let's just say we didn't regret upgrading to business class.

The way we looked at it, until retirement you're not going to have a large number of opportunities to take a 2 1/2 to 3 week vacation, so best to take advantage and go somewhere far away. Caribbean islands and Europe aren't going anywhere, can always do those in a much quicker trip.

If you go to the stickied thread a the top of the TB, there's a link to my trip review. Sadly, I used tinypic for all the images and that no longer works, so there are no photos to accompany the trip details.

I went to Moorea/ Bora Bora. It’s less expensive than you think if you shop around and worth it. I did a quick two minute google search and found 7 nights in both for under 8 k all inclusive. Direct flight to Papeete from LAX is 8 hours or so. Spend a day in LA first.

South of France is nice.
Thailand.
Kauai.

My advice is to go for as long as possible. Your bride will likely have a very stressful week or two prior to the wedding and you often don't see each other much. Its really nice to have a lot of time together.

Definitely consider the flights. Especially if either of you get nervous to travel or hate flying. Pay extra for directs or whatever.

Beyond that, you are about to spend a shite ton of money your first 6 months unless you already live together. If you just want to get drunk on the beach and do mostly nothing, I wouldn't sweat "luxury".

I was definitely looking deeply into Bora Bora\Tahiti area. I can't seem to find any all inclusive though. The ones I find are usually just breakfast included or maybe both breakfast and dinner included but not drinks. Looked into buying a few handles of Titos at LAX Duty Free stops and flying it to Bora Bora with us.

Where did you stay and what was included in your "all-inclusive"? I've read online people spend 300-400 a day over there on just hamburgers and a couple cocktails.

Heavily considered doing 4-5 days in Bora Bora then heading over to New Zealand for 7 days. Didn't think we would get as much as we wanted out of New Zealand in such a short time though.

Misses isn't down for Thailand. Already been to Hawaii. Interested in touring the coast of France\Italy or going through some Greece islands. I would hate to go to one of those places and not tour everything I possibly could though and this trip is going to be mostly hanging out at the beach\pool\bungalow\etc..

My wife and I did Little Dix Bay on Virgin Gorda in November of 2011. It got fricked up in one of the hurricanes a few years ago and has been in the process of a multi-year, multi-million dollar renovation. I think it is supposed to be open again by then, but I'm not sure what the rates per night will be. Should be close to getting it in your budget.

That place is heaven on Earth.

I stayed at Club Med which is closed now. I’m not an “ all inclusive “ guy generally, as I like to find hotel deals and explore the restaurants where I am. In French Polynesia, you are a captive audience so you have limited options. I’m a notorious cheap eater/ street food guy so my vacations tend to reflect that. That said you can get nice hotels with restaurants in Moorea for like $300 a night.

Cuba on your honeymoon lol . Jesus your list was depressing and average . Why not just go to Miami or the Keys? Why not just go to the YMCA indoor pool and back to the house for a pina colada?

The guy gave HIS budget in the OP. I think he should spend the money HE wants to spend instead of going to your meh , pedestrian, every- year destinations. And who the heck are you anyway, telling him his budget, passing moral judgement on HIS budget? Is that you, Bernie Sanders?

You can fly to LAX for $700. And to Papeete for $1500. And hop over to Moorea and Bora Bora for $300 a night. That’s like $5200 for ten days. I was pointing that out because the OP had a MORE AMBITIOUS plan for his honeymoon than going to freakin Mexico. How many times do you think you can go to freakin Jamaica in your life? Damn man. Jamaica? Really?

I just flew round trip from Nola to Thailand for $800. My hotels cost $50 a night. The whole vacation was cheaper than a trip to crime- infested Jamaica or Mexico and 1000 times more charming and adventurous . Elephants, Buddhist temples, festivals, floating markets, it never ended. Just because you are mind- numbingly unimaginative doesn’t mean we have to be. Cuba on your honeymoon, lol.

Not to mention that it's illegal to go to Cuba just to be a tourist. There are specific reasons that Americans are allowed to go to Cuba, and sitting on a beach and getting drunk is not one of those reasons. Getting arrested on return to the US would not be the perfect way to end a honeymoon.

The dude is Cuban . His answer to all travel questions is Cuba. Or when he's feeling adventurous-maybe Jamaica. Or ...wait for it...Mexico.

It annoys me when you take the time to answer the questions people ask ON THEIR TERMS and these idiot down voters rush in to tell you screw that, go to Cuba or Jamaica or Mexico. As if the OP can't make his own decisions. And like this is the Ville Platte Baw/Sams Club I Took My Old Lady on Vacation Board.

On his honeymoon budget -we made honeymoon suggestions that fit -Bali, Polynesia, French Riviera, etc. I suggested French Polynesia because it specifically met all his criteria, specifically flight time. I also mentioned how he could do it MUCH cheaper if he wanted to. But now we know the correct answer was actually the Dominican Republic or some shite....
