My Mom just passed away and she is from France. We are trying to get her brother and sister down here for the funeral but cannot seem to get any help due to the covid ban.

Both of them are fully vaccinated and have applied through the proper channel for the covid waiver to be able to travel to the US. We have tried contacting Sen. Kennedy's office daily. The lady we are dealing with is very nice and is trying everything she can to help us but to no avail.

We heard that the US was going to lift the travel ban in Europe at the beginning of November but there is no set date yet.

Does anyone know if there is an easier way to expedite a request for this? Does anyone know when the exact date will be for the travel ban lift?

Thanks in advance.

First, I’m really sorry for your loss.

I can’t say these two situations are identical, but we just went to a wedding in Houston this past weekend. The groom is from India, and his family had all the proper paperwork, visas, vaccinations, etc.

They weren’t allowed to come into the US for the wedding unless they quarantined in a certified country for two weeks before entering the US.

Have you tried the French consulate in New Orleans? Not sure if it will help, but can’t hurt to inquire with them. They may have connections or answers for you.

We did try but the French Consulate office in New Orleans is not there anymore. The closest one is in Houston and my Dad is driving to Houston today to see if they can help.

ETA: Just googling French Consulate in New Orleans and getting info stating it is open today. I need to call my Dad.

Just talked to my Dad and he said that the New Orleans office only handles cultural and language arts.

He was told to contact the Houston office because they handle all of the travel issues.

Great. That is a good option. Had to drive to Atlanta once for help with a visa. Pro tip: They really love arse kissers and people who are extra polite. Like to the point of embarrassment.

I didn't realize we even had a ban on euros right now? I guess I'm ignorant.

You're not ignorant. The people in charge are.
