In the planning phase but looking for some insight.

Resort: doesn’t have to be top of the line. Wife has never been so simple is better.
Best time of year?
Package deals?
Fly/drive?

Currently live in Baton Rouge
Budget: not an OT baller so cheaper is better

Thanks for any help!

Flying into Denver is cheap so I'd say look at Copper Mountain or Winter Park. I found Copper to be way more budget friendly in terms of lessons and lift tickets than Breck. As far as time of year we like mid January-early March for the best snow coverage.

Cheaper, look outside the trendy places.

There are less expensive, very good options in Idaho, Washington and Oregon. Shorter lines as well

Ski trips to Winter Park can be very affordable if you plan in advance.

They usually sell the 4-Pass (4 days of lift tickets) for $179 if you buy it in the summer before ski season. (I know they merged this year so I'm not sure if they will offer this like in the past) This is also considered a "season pass" so you get some other discounts at the resort.

Round trip Southwest Flights to Denver can be had for $125-$200 depending on when you buy them.

We booked a 1BR/1BA ski in/out VRBO last year for 5 nights for around $800 total.

There is a shuttle that goes from the airport to the ski resorts for $100/person round trip. WP has a free shuttle service that runs around the town of Fraser and WP. It's a little inconvenient but not too bad if you are focused on budget.

Renting a car in Denver is the best option in my opinion. It gives you a little more flexibility to move around. It also allows you to ski different resorts if you wish.

I second Copper. It’s a “less expensive” option, easy to get to, naturally divided terrain, and within 30 minutes of Vail and Breckenridge.

Jackson Hole. Lots to do even if you are not a skier. Go to jacksonhole.com

I'm not a fan of this advice. JH has limited beginner terrain and some of the steepest in the US.
OP another option is Big Sky. Great skiing and non existent lift lines.
