Sweet man. You like what you like. Considering my only basis for comparison is two carnival cruises outta Galveston and Nola I’m pretty sure I’ll end up thinking msc is awesome. I willl say I’ve watched a lot of YouTube videos on their ships and those world class ones like world America , Europa, Asia look really badass. With a 7 night cruise and 6 port dates I don’t think it’ll matter a ton to me anyhow if the ship isn’t fantastic. Im reallly just looking for itineraries I like more than anything. I really am interested in visiting the French Riviera, Mallorca , Sicily, and maybe even Ibiza. Greek isles would be cool down the road but I went Greek island hopping back in 2022 so I’ll prob hold off on another trip like that for a while. I would really like to try one from Copenhagen also that travels around Norway and that area. That doesn’t appeal to Mrs jkyle as much but if our 10 year trip goes well I can probably get her on board. She still wants to cruise to Alaska and that’s something I’m not that interested in. We had two to Alaska get cancelled on us during covid.

Did you check the price of an entry level suite? Sometimes you end up getting a better deal that way since more things (premium drink package and premium WiFi for instance) are included. But yes, I agree. They love their add-ons. I don’t book specially dining since I won’t book lower than Aqua Class which has its own restaurant and I book third party excursions if I don’t DIY a port.
We did an older Celebrity ship in Aqua Class last year out of Athens to Santorini, Mykonos, Rhodes, Ephesus and Hydra. Next week we are in a suite on Ascent out of Rome for 10 nights going to Sicily, Dubrovnik, Split, Bar, Olympia, Corfu and Naples.
I like the size of Celebrity’s ships (not too big, not too small) and I like the clientele. There’s usually a wide range of ages represented as well.

• Venus (Viking Homelands – May 2022)
If you are considering a major cruise line out of Europe, Viking has been the most consistently smooth, well-run experience we’ve had. The ships are small (930 capacity) and beautifully designed, the service is excellent, and the itineraries focus on ports and culture instead of crowds or gimmicks. After three sailings, they’ve become our go-to for European cruising.

Man I would love to take a Viking cruise but I’ll be a little tighter on the wallet than a Viking would allow since it’s costing me a testicle taking my son to Scotland on a golf trip for making a 32 on his ACT.

Yeah Viking’s not cheap, but as you look at different cruise lines and options make sure you do apples to apples comparisons because some are more inclusive and some are not. I find Viking to be a pretty good value, but I get your point.

Thanks. I told him if he could beat or tie his brother he could pick anywhere in the world and I’d take him in a family senior trip there. He did his part so I’m on the hook for a Scotland golf trip. The amount of scholarships and things he earned with his grades more than made up for it so I am happy to follow through. I’m not a big golfer but him and his brother are both pretty serious (70-80s) golfers and we have them lined up at some pretty awesome places. I’m most looking forward to isle of Skye on that trip.
Once the dust settles in a couple years I would like to give Viking a look. I imagine it’s a totally different experience than your major cruise lines. I am eager to check out MSC though. I’ve done a lot of YouTubing and for a major cruise line they look like they can really hold thieir own in terms of ships go and I really like their itineraries from Barcelona , Rome , and Athens. If this goes like I hope it will it may be my new fave way to travel.

The one and only cruise I’ve ever been on originated out of Denmark. We flew to Copenhagen and boarded. Regent Seven Seas line. We were on Voyager. I think passenger capacity was around 700. Docked in Estonia, St Petersburg and Stockholm and cruised the Baltic Sea. I’ve been told I was spoiled by my first cruise.

Celebrity is owned by Royal Caribbean and is a cut above RC. Similar to Princess Cruises is owned by Carnival and is a cut above actual Carnival.

We did a 12 day itinerary out of Rome on Royal that was pretty cool.
