Has anyone been to Melbourne, AUS? **UPDATE post-trip**

Currently living in Brisbane, AUS and am taveling later in the week to Melbourne to check it out. Has anyone been and if so, what should I see or do? I am renting a car for one day and driving to the twelve apostles and great ocean road on the coast. Thanks in advance.

UPDATE after trip

So I went on this trip a couple weeks ago and had a great time. Will definitely go back. Be mindful of the weather: Melbourne is the place where you can experience 4 seasons in one day.

Stayed in Ivanhoe suburb because that is the closest I could get to Fitzroy, Fitzroy is the place to be. Walking distance to the CBD and Fitzroy itself has good vibes and food. Kinda reminded my of the Magazine St. area of Nola.

There is a place in Fitzroy called Po Boy Quarter that is owned and operated by a guy from Louisiana. It has jazzfest posters and Huey Long campaign posters and other stuff on the walls. Makes great food and has American and Lousiana beers. I got the gumbo and it was fantastic. This was a true treat because I've been stuck in AUS for over a year with this country's shitty cooking. The bars around this area are great, try to go to any one on Brunswick street a couple blocks from this restaurant.

Fitzroy Social (bar) has a great happy hour from 5-7 everyday ($10 pitchers which is great for AUS). Naked for Satan is a cool rooftop bar down the street. Black cat is a hipster type lounge that is cool too.

Go into the city and just walk around and admire all the graffiti. Its legal there and ever-changing and what I would consider some real works of art just casually in ducked off alleys. Go to Hosier Lane, Yarra Street, Duckboard Place, ACDC Lane, Union Lane, Duke Street, and just wander anywhere.
Food is great pretty much anywhere. We just picked at little stuff all over instead of getting one big meal. Chinatown was cool too (but not as good as Sydney's). The cathedral there is beautiful if you're into architecture and has a great/huge back garden. The street "Central Place" is kinda like Diagon alley from Harry Potter and the food there is fantastic.

We did the Great Ocean Road another day. Rented a car early in the morning and drove out three hours to The London Bridge and The Arch and worked our way back. I would suggest getting a car the night before so you can leave at 6am. This is where we messed up because there wasn't enough time to see everything with us leaving around 945/10. It also wouldnt be a bad idea to make it a two day thing as there are hotels out there and you can catch a sunrise. Make sure to see The London Bridge, The Arch, Loch and Gorge (awesome-make sure to go down to the beach), The Razorback, The 12 Apostles (this is the crown jewel of the excursion), Gibson Steps, Carisbrook Creek, among others. There is a lot of info about this trek on the web. It was honestly cooler than spending time in the city in my book.

If you can make it out to St. Kilda, you will see wild penguins which is pretty cool.

Side note/advice: If you are in this country on vacation, you should try to squeeze in a trip to Adelaide and then drive to Port Lincoln. Adelaide is like Napa Valley with all the wineries and Port Lincoln is the only place in Australia where it is legal to cage dive with Great White Sharks, Calypso Charters is a first class operation with a hearty boat and cage. They lay out the red carpet for you. Once in a lifetime experience seeing those beasts in the wild.
