Picked my sister up from the new MSY on Friday evening around 8:30....the access road was bumper-to-bumper, backed up all the way to its entrance. Turns out that the traffic entering the parking garages/surface lot was stacking up all the way back onto the access road. Once we managed to get past that blockage, the roundabout was functioning fine. Traffic through the arrivals pickup area was flowing well, and we found her with ease. Exiting the airport and getting onto I-10 westbound was also pretty easy.

Dunno what's up with that traffic backup from the side road onto the access road, but it had a ripple effect all the way back to Vets.

Mine this morning was the exact opposite. Parking in short term was super smooth. Access to the terminal was easy and found the clear lane super easily. Airport felt great and is a huge upgrade.

Very glad to hear that---I was hoping it was just some sort of Saints v Falcons congestion.

From what I gather, it has been very hit or miss. I have had people saying no problems and little traffic when they went, and others saying ARMAGEDDON.

I'm assuming it is luck of the draw on time of day and multiple arrivals/departures.

Other than mitch wanting his name to be on the plaque outside the airport was there a reason the new airport had to be built without the infrastructure in place. Was there federal money that was expiring or other funds that had to be used in a certain time period?

I flew out Friday morning and arrived back at MSY Sunday afternoon; no problems; Uber was a breeze.
