Chicago is a good gateway to New York in terms of major city experience. Could be the next trip.

Another vote for Chicago. My son is 26 now and still talks about our trip to Chicago when he was a young teen. Did the architectural boat tour, concert, museums, watched soccer games at a cool Irish bar, Sears Tower, etc. Easy SW airlines flight to Midway, then elevated train right to hotel. Stress free and humidity free. (We have been to DC, NYC, but something about Chicago in the summer…)

Rocky Mountains National Park is an hour and a half outside Denver and has some great hiking
