My family of five (kids are 14, 12, 9) is in downtown Chicago for a few days. We are staying at the Royal Sonesta on State Street. Looking for recommendations that are ideally walkable. Hitting Wrigley tonight for a Cubs game, but seeking suggestions for this afternoon. Thanks in advance!

Don't jump in the water near the river or in the river if you rent that boat.

Has anyone been the Shedd or the Field Museum this summer? I believe both are under renovation and curious if anyone has a sense of how much is open vs closed.

Will be in Chicago with three kids under 10 this August. This is an annual trip so don’t mind ticking these off the list another year.

Renovations should not affect either visit. Especially for Shedd at this point, your visit should be totally fine. They'll be completely done next year. My understanding is last year was a little more difficult.

Thanks! We skipped the shedd last year because of the renovations and did the art museum instead. My kids loved it. Our 6 year old spent an hour looking at every single miniature.

Another vote for the Zoo. Definitely a must do for a few hours to kill. Train to Wrigley after and lunch and a souvenir with the kids.
