Delta Changing Itinerary- any recourse

I booked a flight for next month, departing from MSY at 1:45pm to LAX, then from LAX to LIH landing at 9:05pm that evening. I have this original receipt with these flight details. I now see that Delta has changed my flight itinerary to leave MSY at 10:30am, fly to ATL, then from ATL to LAX and LAX to LIH landing at the same time. The original MSY to LAX flight is still listed in their flight schedule.
I intend to call them to complain and try to get back on my original flight, but any idea my chances to get this done? I was trying to work a half day the day I leave and this completely ruins my schedule.

What date specifically? You're doing MSY-LIH correct? Before you call, figure out specific flights numbers for the flights you want, this will help the agents tremendously. Tell them they changed your flights to leave 3 hours earlier and that you'd like to be put on ### and ### flights.

Date leaving is 11/21/17. Yes, it was MSY to LIH with a layover at LAX.

They changed the flight time on the MSY-LAX by a few minutes and their (sometimes terrible) IT system kicked you to the flight that made the most "sense".
Just call them and tell them the schedule change booted you to another flight, but you'd like to be on Flight XXXX connecting to Flight XXXX.
They'll make it happen in just a few minutes.

Yes based on the changes you described they should put you on just about whatever flight you want depending on availability

Call in and ask for these specific flights.
Delta 1975 New Orleans to Los Angeles leaving at 1:30pm arriving LAX at 3:45pm
connecting to:
Delta 1735 Los Angeles to LIH departing at 4:55pm arriving LIH at 9:05pm
