Do any of you have experience with using Costco travel (at all or for Europe)?

I have been a long time lurker and have seen the plethora of threads on travel to Europe (thanks for those btw). My wife and I (no pics) have been hoping to go to Europe for our 25th anniversary for a while and each year something seems to get in the way, so we have never gotten very far. We are debating Rome/Sorrento, Greece or Spain (we are planning to take the advice I have seen on not packing in too many countries).

I have used Costco travel 2 times and both times have been great. Every company they partner with is well run even in Mexico and the Caribbean. Always had transportation lined up, someone to speak to if we needed help or anything. Nice to take care of flight hotel and transportation all on one site and they set it up

I would never, ever use an OTA (Costco Travel, Expedia, etc.) particularly in a foreign country in a timezone 5+ hours ahead. When you use an OTA, you're essentially forced into calling the provider to get any issues resolved (including lengthening a stay, etc.)

Using an OTA isn't going to fix whatever has stopped you from going to Europe in the past.

Used Costco Travel a few years back for a trip to Costa Rica and everything was well organized. The price was great too.

I’ve used Costco travel for multiple international trips, including Europe. It’s great. They book with top notch hotels in Europe and have excellent benefits. Your trip will include transport to and from the hotel included in the package, which is quite nice.

My only recommendation is that if your flight arrives early in the morning to Europe either call the hotel and let them know you are landing in the morning and if there is an option for you to book a room early. You will be jet lagged. Or you could book an Airbnb near the hotel to take a nap.

Yeah, it's called booking an extra day. There's an entire subreddit devoted to hotel workers, and people that show up in the morning expecting to be able to check in, when check in is at 3PM are a good 10% of the posts.

More complicated on Costco travel as it books hotels on the date your flight lands. Don’t have the option to book an extra day

Oh look, an OTA restriction that doesn't exist if you hit a hotel's direct website. Shocking.

Costco service did seem pretty good, which I think everyone agrees on, I'd just call them and ask for an extra day on the reservation.

However, I also time when my flight lands very purposefully. It might not be the cheapest, but the suffering that ensues if you go to sleep too early when flying internationally is something I learned about before I hit college.

For instance, from IAH to FCO, I can book landings anywhere between 1:35PM and 1:30AM, for nearly the same price (using ITA Matrix).
