Seeing around $1,300 economy. Flight time to Santiago is around 16 or 17 hours
Well it depends on where you start. Direct flights for me from Houston get you there in under 10 hours. Plus no aggressive time change to deal with

Lima sucks.
I enjoyed Lima. Lots of fun to be had.

Search for “relocation to Chile” for an interesting insight!

I went to Antofagasta / Atacama desert two years ago for work. If you want to go to Mars without getting on a rocket, that is the place to go. However, I would imagine Patagonia and other places would be much better choices for most people. The country looked beautiful from the air and I wish I could have visited more of it.
Also got to experience a 6.9 earthquake while in the airport in Santiago. There is an earthquake somewhere in Chile just about every day. Barely delayed my flight back - no big deal for them.

I experienced my first Earthquake while there...5.4, but it was very deep. It was like standing in a boat while "riding" the wake waves when another boat goes by.
I thought it was a pretty cool experience, until I realized why everyone in town was freaking out. We were in a tiny town at the base of Mount Villarrica, an active volcano, so there was a little bit of panic as the town was trying to figure out if they needed to evacuate everyone for an eruption.
