Evidently the blue line at least temporarily has a “line cut” on the weekends which means you have to use a shuttle bus for part of the way, so be prepared for that.

This should be done by the end of this month. You are right, though - starting at 10pm Friday through 4am Monday (began in late-Feb), CTA closed Belmont, Logan Square and California for track improvements.

ZaZas was really really good, by the way. A huge slice of pizza was $5, too, which was the best food deal we had in the time we were there. That area (was it Lakeview?) was very nice.

Logan Square - very very busy and trendy-seeming, from my bus observation. Would probably be a nice base for a Chicago trip.

Pequods personal pan is prob the best deal you can get for "Happy Hour"...

For sure - the stretch of Logan, Bucktown and Wicker is very, very popular. I live right on the border of Logan/Bucktown, a 2-3 minute walk to California Blue Line station.

To be honest, I don't think there are any hotels in Logan, but The Robey is smack in the middle of Wicker + there's a Hyatt Place about a half-mile east.

There's the inn above Longman and Eagle but good luck getting a room. Also hotel at Midtown Athletic Club but a bit of a stretch to call that Logan.

Interesting - had no idea about Longman & Eagle. Haven't been there in awhile.

Yeah, Midtown is more Bucktown (close enough to Logan, though). Bit of a dead zone for visitors getting downtown.

I'm flying into Midway next Thursday. Flight lands at 5:15 and trying to make it to hotel on Mag Mile then to Wrigley by 6:40 first pitch. Would it be quicker to take an Uber/lyft or the CTA to the hotel at that time of day on a Thursday? Assuming red line would be best way to get to Wrigley, but if not, open to suggestions.

Taking the Orange would require you to walk from Clark/Lake or transfer to Red at Roosevelt. To the door of your hotel on Mag Mile, guessing you're looking at an hour on either route. With Lyft/Uber, I'd budget 45 minutes once in the car - you would hope to get to your hotel sooner, but just giving you the high end of time.

Just take the Red Line. You can pop on at Grand or Chicago and get off at Addison. Doubt Lyft/Uber going north LSD will save any time.

I'd be pretty surprised if you made first pitch, but I suppose it's possible with perfect efficiency from deplaning to Wrigley.

usually 30 min on train no matter what to Loop, then hop on red to wrigley if correct...

you should be better off on train. Plug in on apple maps and check when you land and it will let you know if theres traffic or if the train is running on time.

very easily to use. Just switch your choice of travel and it will update you.

that is going to be real tight either way. coming from Midway you may be able to get around most of the highway construction so Uber/Lyft is probably the way to go.

Then red line to Wrigley no doubt.

Thanks for the advice, guys. I'm aware making first pitch is unlikely, but just trying to be as efficient as possible. Appreciate the input.

To add, if taking the Orange, total trip time walking from terminal -> MDW station (may need to wait a few extra minutes for train to depart, too) -> hotel door (i.e. Intercontinental) will be closer to an hour. Normally, none of that matters, but just extra consideration since he's trying to get to Wrigley as quickly as possible.

Car time will definitely vary, especially at that time of day. Can get pretty backed up near the Eisenhower / Kennedy interchange. Seems like never-ending construction

We’re going to stay at the Robey in a few weeks to catch a few Cubs games. Really looking forward to it. Any restaurant recommendations in Wicker Park or close to Wrigley? Thanks.

There are limitless options between the area you're staying in and Wrigley. What do you like/what are you looking for and what's your budget?

We really like anything especially old school Italian restaurants. Any recommendations would be appreciated from hole in the wall restaurants to nicer places.

Club Lucky is a must, then.

As for your hotel at The Robey, make sure to check their rooftop (The Up Room). Probably best views in Chicago - unobstructed, panoramic view stretching downtown all the way north.

Other ideas around Wicker: etta (great upstairs patio), Taxim, Mable's Table (technically Bucktown, but close enough), Dove's (brunch), Small Cheval, Amaru, Mott St, Tortello (incredible house made pasta, but it's not cheap for the quantity), Wazwan, and Lawn.

Yeah you're gonna love Club Lucky. All of hoops' suggestions are great, Mott St being my favorite out of all of those. There's a Small Cheval in Wrigley now. I'm sure it's a scene on gameday.

Expanding out, I recommend Daisies, Giant, Lula, Mi Tocaya Antojeria, Taqueria Chingon. Those are all in Logan, Bucktown and are close to Wicker.

The mariscos restaurants near Mott St are fun. There are several. My favorite is El Barco.

Closer to Wrigley, I like to take out of town guests to Tango Sur. It's a byob argentinian steakhouse with incredibly affordable steak. There's also Little Goat Diner which just moved to Southport.

Daisies is very good - just went to the new location this weekend and have stopped through in the AM a couple times for coffee. In addition to those in Logan, would also add Lardon/Union/Meadowlark for appetizer (charcuterie), dinner and cocktails.

Speaking of Mott St, Second Generation recently opened, too. Wife and I went there a week ago. Fun dinner and, of course, stopped at Billy Sunday after for a cocktail.
