Similar to the below post, but I'm not concerned with it being overly nice.

Anyone have a suggestion for a hotel that's in the best part of the city but that is just a standard embassy suites/marriot/hyatt/etc type place? I want something nice enough but don't plan on being in the room much at all so more concerned with location.

I have stayed at the Homewood Suites just off Michigan Ave. I believe it's called Homewood Suites Magnificent Mile. On Huron St. It has large rooms (suites) and not expensive. It neighbors with a Hampton Inn for a regular room slightly cheaper.

Just choose the Marriott/Hyatt/Hilton property on Michigan Ave or in River North that fits your budget. They're all fine and close to a lot of things to do.

We've stayed at the Homewood Suites on Grand a couple times, really like that its right next to (less than 100 yards) from the Red Line to go North-South and less than a block from Michigan Avenue. We have kids so though that location works really well.
