Changing terminals at LHR

Flying AA ORD to GVA and then back with a connection at LHR. Flights booked through AA. Flights to and from are operated by AA. Flights between LHR and GVA are operated by BA.
Is 3 hours enough to transfer between T3 and T5? Will I need to collect my checked luggage and recheck it, or will it go all the way to final destination?

Pretty sure it's affirmative. Every time I've flown through LHR I've had to go through security.

Shouldn’t need to recheck with BA and AA both being One World. You will need to go through normal security again. 3 hrs is more than enough time.
Connected through Heathrow this summer and seemed better staffed than it has been in recent years and transfer was easy and quick.

You'll be fine. LHR seems to be VERY strict about liquids in carry-ons in my experience. May just be bad luck, but even things like cosmetics, deodorant, etc get inspected. I'd avoid bringing em in carry-on if possible.

Thanks for the info. Good to know I will have enough time.

That's UK airports, they pulled my liquids out of my transparent travel bag to put them into a ziploc bag in Manchester.
I haven't been through LHR often, since I'm Star Alliance, but them doing dumb shite in the international arrivals terminal... Last time I flew through they announced that all the bathrooms in Terminal 5? were offline, and we needed to use the lav on the plane before getting off. Then we spent three hours going through immigration. Toddlers were expectedly panicking, and nobody gave a damn.

Check your bags to final destination and you do not need to collect and recheck in London. Just did this today. You have more than enough time.

Three hours is more than enough time. You'll go through security and have enough time to get a bland breakfast from Ramsay's Plane Food.
