I have looked at this as a mini trip as well. Would be interested.

Cedar key is super chill... small, quiet little fishing town, that also is a great place to drink. Very small downtown that is basically a rectangle with the boat launch in the middle.

If you happen to an OT baller, i can definitely recommend you a private "island" right outside of town, just off sr 24. Maybe a mile-mile.5 from downtown. Basically cut off via marsh, not way out in the gulf or something. 30 yards of bridge or so. Cedar Cay is the name. 2 out 3 times the owners will deny knowing me

Cedar Key is on my bucket list of places to fly to. I'd be interested to find out how it is as well.

went there last October for a work trip.

Freaking awesome little town.

83 West is a legit restaurant...met the owners one night...young couple, the husband is the chef.

Big Deck Raw Bar is a really cool spot as well, usually went there for drinks and listening to band out on the deck...owners are avid Trump supporters and had a bunch of chalk stuff on their big billboard in front of the restaurant...they have a killer grilled black grouper burger.

Coming down the highway before you get to the main part of town there is a Tiki bar/motel on the right hand side that is in somebodies backyard...THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!

Go there at night and you'll love it...cool patio outside, inside has a Hemmingway kind of feel to it.

Enjoy your stay, I'd live there if I could.

Smoked Mullet dip is also legit.

Also it is the place to be for flounder fishing!

Get down there ASAP, it’s definitely a great place to go for a 100 dollar hamburger (or stone crab)

I'll have to check it out myself. Sounds like a great place.

I will cosign this. Someone caught some mackerel (i believe spanish) they grilled up for us... twas indeed amazing. There's a small little grocery on the way to downtown, should have the beer and food you'll want. Truthfully it is my favorite "key" in the state. The beaches are meh af, but it isn't billed as a beach town.
