Car Rental companies on East Coast

Family is looking into an East Coast family trip. We are trying to look at which city to fly into, rent a vehicle, bounce around, then most likely fly out of a separate airport. Right now, we are looking at flying into Balt, DC, Philly or NY.
What are the better rental car companies now, which ones should we avoid? Already planning to stick with the bigger companies so we don't fly in and get stuck while the counter scrambles to find an available vehicle for 5 passengers.

Avoid Budget, pay $60 for a Costco membership , book through them and save about $300.per week of rental.
