What's the cost of the used ones you are looking at? I would consider the used route, but then again I have an interest in RV'ing some when I retire. For me the knowledge/experience is something I would consider an investment. Would make me an more informed buyer/user when I retire.

All over the place depending on age. Anything from $12,000 for a 2000 to $55,000 for something 2-3 years old. I have 3 kids, I'm worried they are going beat shite up for 2 weeks in an RV. That's part of my concern, and if I owned I could relax and not care if something broke whereas I'd be nervous and pissed if it was a rental. That's just a personality issue with me.
Guys buy boats and trucks all the time and don't lose their arse. They lose some, it will depreciate and there is cost of ownership don't get me wrong.
I'm just not sure how much and I feel like everyone assumes its a ton.

Food for thought...
You can probably find a rent/lease to own on an RV. Probably would be cheaper than renting/cruise for america each trip. You'd be most likely responsible for the upkeep/maintenance on most issues. If you decide after the 1-2 years you might want to continue to do it, then you can look at continuing and purchase outright. On the flip side, if you're done with it, you can wash your hands of it and not worry about resell.
My parents in a way did this with their most recent rv and now have it fully purchased.

Any advice on best sites or other resources to rent?
Does anyone have any recommendation especially on the mileage cost?

Cruise America offers good deals and specials on this, as said above. It really depends on when and where you want to go though. Peak season's obviously they charge a premium. They also do a lot of one way deals to get new RV's to states that need them and to relocate.
