Big Bend and Lajitas Golf resort

Looking at a getaway weekend with kids and do some hiking. Looks like limited options for accommodations, anyone stay here before? Worth the price?

I stayed in one the Boardwalk condos. It was nice but pricey. The restaurant was ok but also pricey. If you are coming out this far I would look for an Airbnb in Terlingua and enjoy the dining options in Terlingua. Also it will be hot. Do early morning hikes and bring plenty of water. A hiker had to air lifted last week due to heat exhaustion. Check Far Flung Adventures they have nice cabins.
Another option is Davis Mountains State Park and the Fort Davis National Historic site. From there you can go to Balmorhea State Park for swim in the natural spring fed pool.

we stayed in terlingua there are tons of good options. You’ll be much closer to the park (assuming that’s why you are there) and terlingua has lots of places to eat and drink plus it’s very interesting
The best option though would be to stay at the chisos basin lodge inside the park if you really want to maximize the park time. It ain’t fancy but it will save you hours of driving

The lodge has been closed for a few years now. Cabins are still open but booked way in advance.

I guess I got confused. I thought the lodge was closed along with the restaurant. Guess not since you stayed there.

Been to Lajitas 3 times. Worth every penny. stay on property, awesome golf course and plenty of rooms. Hire one of the workers to take you to Terlingua for dinner and drinking. Stop half way back and look at the stars. Incredible.

Check out their website. Green fees are seasonal. Nearest airport is Midland, about a four hour drive to Lajitas. If you have the $$$ you can charter a flight to the resort.

Pretty sure there’s a flight from Houston/Conroe as well.
