Thanks for that input..yes it's farther, but only really adds an hour of car time, and we're getting so much more when we get there...Biloxi it is..Thanks! Now if anyone has a preferred condo or anything like that...VRBO seems to have some nice options

Might want to look at Oasis Resort. They seem to have a little kids splash park and pool stuff that the little one might enjoy.

I know you're looking in TX, but both Costa Rica and Roatan are pretty much local. Consider them
I was thinking Cancun. Flight and drive will be same or shorter than driving to MS from TX. The all inclusive will be a godsend with an unpredictable toddler. Built in entertainment etc.
Of course flight tickets add expense.

You said your kid is only 2, but check out the Margaritaville Resort. They have a huge water park area and just added an amusement park.

Would definitely do Biloxi or Gulfport over Galveston.
Only reason I'd visit Galveston would be for a fishing trip.
Mississippi beaches have white sand. Water isn't pretty, but its fine for young kids to flap around in because its so shallow.
I'd look at the Oasis, they have a little water park for your youngin to flap around in. Margaritaville IMO is more for older kids, say like 5+, unless your 2 y/o knows how to play video games (mine doesn't)
If you want something a little more private, I have a relative that owns a condo in the Inn by the sea in Pass Christian. Has a pool and private beach access. The Condo's there are fairly nice and you don't have to worry about crossing the street like the high rises in biloxi. Lots to do over in downtown Bay St Louis across the bridge after the kid(s) go to sleep as well.

dont do this. margaritaville in biloxi may just be one of the trashiest places in the country.

Thank you for this tip... I haven't fully booked yet but 99% sure this is where were going to be. only an hour more than Galveston would have been but it seems the beach will be a huge upgrade, love not having to cross the road and we get our evenings overlooking the Gulf... thanks! I did in fact come to the right place
