We're going to Georgetown for a week but planning to do a couple of nights at Baha Mar on the front end with the kids. Based on internet research, seems like they have a major problem with fraudulent room charges, maid service stealing from guest, restaurants overcharging, and all around poor customer service. The place looks nice and isn't cheap. Just wondering, has anyone had a bad experience and/or would we be better off going to the Atlantis.

I have not been to Baja Mar but I have been to Atlantis. My last experience at Atlantis with poor service and ridiculous prices ensured that that would be my last experience at Atlantis.

I have been to Baja Mar in the last year… Never had any of those problems that you are describing.

Which hotel would you stay in?

Atlantis was fun, but definitely dated as compared to Baja Mar.

Heard from a buddy that mixed drinks were in the 30-40s PER drink. A slice of pizza was $15/slice.

I have been 3 times for a week each time. Great experience and I never had any issues with overcharges. The place is very, very expensive though. If you are going to be there Thurs- Sunday you will need to book reservations to the restaurants. It is virtually impossible to get a table without a reservation.

We have 4 kids in tow so we’re doing adjoining rooms at the Hyatt. Sounds like we need to pack a snack duffle bag.

One thing you can do after you land and leave the airport is have the driver take you to a grocery store and/or a liquor store.

We got a small bottle of vodka and some club soda and limes and assorted snack foods.
