I’ve been to Eureka twice cool quaint lil town. Also not to far of a drive to Branson for a day trip. Beware Eureka has become very Liberal just an FYI.

Family and I just got back from Eureka Springs. I had no expectations and was pleasantly surprised and pleased.

I'm also pretty much addicted to Ermilio's Italian there and Mud Street Cafe for breakfast. And I always hit Gotahold brewery.

I’d add Grotto and Local Flavor Cafe to this list. Both were excellent this week.

We're going this week. We decided to stay in the Basin Park Hotel for a couple days and then played it by ear. We're looking forward to it.

Basin Park is very nice and right downtown.

We stayed at 1886 Crescent Hotel. Supposedly haunted but that ain't my thing (I grew up in Savannah GA and am long over the haunted tour thing). You'll enjoy it.

For me, two days was about all I needed to see/do everything I wanted. I did go ziplining (had never done that) and really enjoyed it.

1886 Crescent Hotel

We thought of staying there but liked the location downtown a little better. Of course, we've never been there so I have no idea which one. I know they're owned by the same people.

A lot of the cabins were a part of a cabin complex which we don't prefer and there were few independently owned ones that I found online, so we went the hotel way. Anyway, thanks again to all for the recommendations.

Catch Mount Nebo, Mount Magazine and Petit Jean State Parks. All close and top notch. Just North west of Little Rock.

Was not impressed with Eureka Springs, Nice town but shop owners were mostly snobby types.

Enjoyed Dogwood Canyon near Branson. Bass Pro guy did an awesome job with that park. You can walk, rent a bike or take a tram tour.

The only place I have ever had a problem is at the pretzel place. The owner is a giant a-hole an literally yelled at half the customers in line. I looked online and apparently its pretty common for him to just start yelling and berating people. Everywhere else has been fine.

Side note: I wish the bunny receipt lady was rude. I have to go in there every time and buy something because "we need to see the bunnies"

She got us this time too. The lady is not the most personable. I think she would have been out of business a long time ago if it was not for that bunny.

Get a trolley pass, ride up to the hotel, and say hello to the kitty for us.

Seriously though the hotel is worth a stop and the trolley pass has other stops.

stay the frick out of the delta and the lower half of the state. But I will say this... if you do drive through Dumas, stop at Taylors Steakhouse, but after you eat, get your car and keep driving

Also, Hoot's in McGehee is a solid random arse bbq spot on that highway. I usually have to get up that way a couple times a year for misc. farm parts. A true oasis in a food desert right on the side of the road.

I was going to suggest hoots, but if he's going to be driving through the delta, Taylors > Hoots IMHO

and I'm a hoots guy, I stop in there everytime we pass Mcgehee. But Taylors has some pretty good dry aged steaks for a place that doesn't look like it would
