Arizona Golf Trip

We've got a group going to the Phoenix / Scottsdale area (looking like it will be a weekend between October and December). I know about the maintenance the courses undergo following the summer months.
With that in mind, any course recommendations? Any recommendations on where to stay, what to do, what to eat?

Rounds for Research
This is a link to a live auction that is currently happening, for courses in Arizona. Auction closes May 5th
The courses donate rounds and the proceeds go towards turf research, so you're doing a solid + You may be able to find a cheap deal at a place that would otherwise be very expensive. Example, currently the leading bid for a 4some at TPC Scottsdale is $485, which is a normal value of $700.
