I am at my condo in OB right now. It is pretty well cleaned up and there is not a shortage of places to spend money at. Just check if your complex is still renting or not. Mine is shut down until the 1st

Friend,

Mother and I decided to head over to Gulf Shores yesterday to help our neighbor, Ms. Sarah, who owns a condo there. She had a little roof damage and needed someone to remove a couch, so we offered.

The town seems relatively fine. The streets are clear. A few restaurants are open, but some are closed. We ate at The Shrimp Basket, which has surprisingly good food. The stretch from Foley to the beach at Gulf Shores is home to more ice cream shops per block than any other place in America. In one one mile stretch, I counted seven ice cream sellers.

The real reason to go to Gulf Shores, if there is one at all, is to see Souvenir City, which has delighted tourists with cheap souvenirs, shells, and airbrushed t-shirts for 64 years. I am sad to report it is not open, and it looks to have sustained significant damage, including damage to its sign. The shark, whose mouth doubles as an entrance, lost his two front teeth. It looks as though someone has removed most of the the goods from the store, as repairs will be ongoing.

All of the public beach access parking lots are closed. It is pretty obvious that the town does not want non-property owners from visiting at this time. On a brighter note, The Track is open, as are all the miniature golf courses.

Yours,
TulaneLSU

Friend,

Good luck and safe travels to you and mother on this your mission of mercy. We all appreciate the image of the now gap-toothed shark (included above for reference), perhaps Terry Thomas or Michael Strahan might feel some kinship towards the unfortunate entrance way.

I am in Perdido at present, I find the sights and smells of the debris here a bit reminiscent of the post-Katrina time in the New Orleans metro area. Fortunately for all Sally was not as intense as her predecessors Katrina or Ivan.

Have a nice visit, as the sunset here was phenomenal I trust vespers tonight was for your group a lovely experience.

I remain your humble correspondent,

Best regards-

I found most restaurants to be open. There should not be a shortage of places for one to eat. Many complexes are still construction zones but they are moving fast. Mine was planning to open on the first but we may open on the 15th of this month. The area should bounce back quickly.

Our realty company (Perdido) canceled all of their reservations for the entire month of October.
