In the nicest way possible - perhaps you stayed in a cheaper hotel, that is next to public beaches. The places I stay in Cabo are private beach access only - however I don't even go to Cabo for a beach experience. Take a boat out, sure. But I wouldn't even consider Cabo a very beach-forward destination. The sand is coarse, the sea is rough. Especially, again, for a 3 year old.
I've also been peddled to on the beach in Greece. Costa Rica. USVI. I didn't feel unsafe... that does not mean the place is 3rd world or dangerous, it is part of the culture in those tourist areas.
The few reasons you gave to not visit Cabo I simply don't agree with. It is not, IMO, a big enough argument to never go to Cabo. Mexico for sure cares about the Cartel and others not affecting their tourism, so yes I think generally you are safe going as an American and being smart with having drivers, staying in nice resorts and not walking down dark alleys at night.
I bring up BR and Nola as comparison because if I used your reasons... I couldn't visit or bring my kids anywhere I currently do. Live a little my man.

Exactly. I thought Cabo was also too humid. But if a 3 year old isn't going to the beach, what are they doing? quote:Part of the culture to offer hard drugs and underage prostitutes? Hard pass.

And my point was just - if all you want to do is go veg out at some resort, then pick a place better than Cabo. After reading this entire thread and this statement, are you even sure you went to Cabo?
To be fair, I don't go during hurricane season.
To OP, I probably would do Cancun over Cabo for quick trip and ability to use beach and all inclusives at basically every price point that may cater better to kids.
In my view Cabo is more adult oriented with a lot of options of high end meals. It isn't Destin.
