We did ... flew into Boston and rented a car. This was in 2009 and sadly didn't have a smart phone at the time. We knew our end destination for the wedding so we just did what we saw/wanted on our way up to the Cape. Don't remember the name of the town that it was in BUT it wasn't a long drive from what I remember to the tip of the Cape .. nice day trip (could have been a half day).

Went to Plymouth Rock on our way back to Boston .. saw the Mayflower replica and went to church there in Plymouth. When we got back to Boston we did the Freedom Trail and went to a Red Sox Game.

If I remember right, we flew in on a Thursday, went to Martha's Vineyard on Friday, Provincetown and wedding on Saturday; Plymouth on Sunday, Red Sox game on Sunday night, Boston tour on Monday and home on Tuesday. Really wanted to go to the Patriots game on Monday night but I was pooped.

I was actually considering Wellfleet because I found an awesome deal on a big two story kinda secluded house. Looks like a pretty decent walk to a beach from where it is but the area looks amazing.

Same. I considered doing a marathon over that way over Halloween weekend but I just can’t work it out with all the time off I’m already using for other stuff. Someday though.

My wife wants to drive from BR up through Nashville and then to the Amish country in PA. And then up to the Northeast for the Autumn turn of the leaves. Plan to leave in late September. Figure a two-week round trip.

Any of y’all ever do something similar? Is it doable in two weeks?

Been to Salem
Not a ton to do but you are also close to Marblehead,
Gloucester and rockport which are other little towns you can visit and experience
Don’t just limit yourself to Salem

There are a lot more homes on the bay side in Wellfleet, which is near unwalkable to the beach. Not sure where the home you saw is located, but it can even be quite a walk on the beach side (east of Route 6). That said, Cahoon Hollow is one of my favorites on the Cape + Beachcomber is a great place to have drinks, listen to live music, etc.

Don't sleep on the bay side of Wellfleet, though. The harbor area has quite a few restaurants and beautiful sunsets.

ETA: I saw an earlier post of yours - looks like you're leaning Lower Cape at one of Dennis or Hyannis. Both good places, but beaches are nowhere near what you'll find along the protected seashore.

Personally, yes. Could be slight bias in that comment, but I just don't think Lower Cape offers the privacy and beaches as Eastham, Truro and Wellfleet. Obviously, it gets a bit more crowded as you move into Provincetown.

Awesome. After doing some more research I’ve actually decided to turn this into a 10 day trip with about 4 on coastal Maine somewhere. Lol. I am gonna finish up somewhere on the cape. Y’all gonna rent me that house in Truro or what ?

Haha, I would, but I don’t think my parents have ever rented it. They spend so much time up there. Wish I could get out more often, but a little difficult from Chicago.
