Amtrak from Seattle to Vancouver

Taking a cruise leaving out of Vancouver. Airfare is significantly cheaper to fly into Seattle instead of Vancouver, so was thinking of taking the Amtrak train to Vancouver. I have never ridden Amtrak before. Does anyone have tips or pearls of wisdom to share regarding traveling via Amtrak?

I have heard this an awesome trip for scenery.

Never done this trip, but Amtrak is super easy and can all be booked online. Google says that trip is very scenic, be sure to book the daytime trip rather than night.

Just beware that this route is occasionally on a bus.

Hey Snoop, are you from Seattle? I have my wife and kids with me. Is the train station sketchy? Also part of the city do you recommend staying in-I don’t mind Ubering to the train station

Did the reverse route back in 2016. It’s a great way to travel between those 2 cities. If going north get a seat on the left side of the train, and do the sunset timeframe if possible (I want to say ours was like a 5pm-9:30pm trip but not sure it goes the other way at the same time).
You’re still at the mercy of freighters and there may be some delays/pauses, but this route has been my best Amtrak experience so far.

This is a great route, short, easy, lots of trains, and scenic, and I think you can catch the train directly at Sea-tac. Even taking the light rail to downtown Seattle to catch the Amtrak is easy.
Tip, you will have to clear customs at the Vancouver train station and I would plan some extra time for that. Its been years since I've done it and it wasn't too bad of a line, but felt slower than doing it in the airport.
Vancouver also has an amazing transit system and the train station is located at a local rail stop if you are spending a night in Vancouver before the cruise.

Is there train that runs from Vancouver to Alaska?
We are going to Vancouver next summer for a convention and the flight to Seattle from NOLA is less that $300 round trip right now so I was going to book the flights out west soon. I normally rent and drive all over but a train trip might be cool if the logistics work out.
We will have two weeks to go Seattle to Vancouver (3-4 days) and then either to Banff or Alaska.
Just wondering if a train might be more fun that a car for this trip...
