Trying to get to Cabo on Sunday.

Leaving out of New Orleans at 620. Connecting in Austin. Only 50 min connection in Austin. If my New Orleans flight is delayed I’m screwed.

Weather looks suspect on Sunday morning with that frontal line coming through.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Help.

Thanks.

It's starting to come through Houston now. The wind is pretty stiff, but I've had flights take off in much worse. I'll never forget that flight out of EWR when the pilot kicked it hard into the wind almost immediately after take off. We made 10k feet in a hurry that day.

Where is the flight out of Austin coming from? That'd be my bigger concern if it was coming from East of the front, like ATL.

Did you book both legs together/at the same time through the same airline?

Those one a day Central American flights are great, but tough if your first flight is delayed.

Assuming you are flying SW? First problem...if weather is bad enough to delay flights from MSY that morning you just aren't getting to Cabo on Sunday unless you fly to Austin Saturday night. So #1 choice, check flight status in the morning and hope everything is still on time.

#2, there is a 12:15pm from PDX to Cabo. If you are delayed leaving MSY and miss your connection in AUS, you could get SW to book you on the 10:45 from AUS to PDX, arriving at 11:25 am.

#3, fly out Saturday to Austin to avoid MSY Sunday morning.

Good luck!

Follow up to my #3 above...risky move but if flights are delayed see if you can get on the 6:00am (delayed) to PDX. As long as that flight leaves MSY by 10am you should still make it to PDX in time to catch PDX to Cabo 12:15 pm, if my time zone math is right and the PDX to Cabo has open seats.

Thanks

Also considering hoping on the 5 am flight to Houston on Sunday if the front hasn’t hit by that time. If I can make it to Houston by 11ish then I could get on the Houston to Cabo flight

The front is hitting MSY Sunday morning ( 3AM)

There are two SWA flights to Cabo that I think you're scheduled for out of AUS, one through Denver, and the other through Houston. Why don't you just fly out of Houston on Saturday on flight 3006? (Love the flight number)

My current flight is

0625 Msy and arrive AUS 0800
Then 0850 AUS to Cabo

My thought was depending on when the storm hits, if it it’s around 6 or 7 then I could hop on the 0500 flight to Houston and then catch one of the Houston to Cabo flights

On Saturday, sure. I tried looking up where the inbound AUS flight was coming from, but I only see a 0750 departure, not an 0850 departure.

I’m talking about Sunday. I’ll be watching the squall line all night. If storm looks like it’s going to pass from 6 am onward then I’ll change flights to the 5am Houston flight in hopes of making it out before the delays start.

Storms look like they start at 7am at MSY. As long as you get airborne you should be just fine. I'd imagine they'll hold that flight in Austin for a bit, inbound plane for that is coming from El paso landing at 745am

How much is it to change confirmed to the Houston flight?

I paid with points. It would be about 7100 points per ticket

I booked these flights 4 months ago. Southwest offers same day flight changes with minimal charges.

Shut the frick up and stick to the OT board.

Good luck this morning. Southwest site says you're boarding, looking like you may have enough time to get out before this first round of storms!
