I know that Allegiant started flying here several years ago, but it seems like recently they've added a bunch of flights on the downlow. While they only have two flights a week to most of the destinations and charge for most things like carry on luggage, they've got great prices for quick getaways (much better deals than Delta, United, American). Curious if anyone here has ever flown on Allegiant out of MSY?

Destinations out of MSY:

Cincinnati, $90 in August/Sept
Tulsa, $66 in July/August/Sept
Orlando, $90 in July/Aug/Sept
Jacksonville, $78 in July/Aug/Sept
Pittsburgh, $78 in July/Aug/Sept
St. Petersburg, FL, $78 in July/Aug/Sept

Never flown with them, but I was looking into the round trip flight to Jax for the LSU game against UF. Really great price. However I have read terrible reviews on the airline. Still almost seems worth it though for those prices.

If the prices go out that far and are that cheap ($118 for roundtrip for that weekend), I'd book it.

Seats for each flight are $18 for exit row seats, $19 for regular aisles, $21 for extra legroom. So add an extra $40 if you want an assigned seat roundtrip. $30 for carry on bag each way (9" x 22" x 14") or $40 to check a bag so add $60. Still then the total is about $228 roundtrip for bag, seat, and the ticket

I flew Allegiant in January to Orlando (Sanford/SFB). Other than a 20 min delay leaving MSY and a 3 hour delay leaving SFB, the flight was uneventful. As CuseTiger mentioned, they are a "fee based" Airline similar to Spirit, Frontier, etc. where any and all amenities standard with the larger airlines do cost extra. As long as you are aware of that upfront, it works OK.

Not sure if the delays are typical, but it appears most Allegiant flights both days were delayed across the board.

As a note, you do fly into Sanford/SFB, not Orlando/MCO. It is about a 30 min extra drive into Orlando.

St. Pete is closer to fam for me...probably look into this more than the Orlando trip.

Pittsburgh was a fun trip I made with a group of guys and always said I wanted to go back with the wife and check it out again
