Got a few hours in at Snowbasin yesterday. Beautiful mountain and probably one of my favorite mountain drives. Can’t wait until more gets opened up. I mainly rode the middle bowl lift.

Revy was awesome on Sunday, 3 or 4 inches fell overnight and the glades were even better. The resort was oddly not busy after10 inches of powder in two days, had the Tally Ho glades to myself.
Made the drive to Sun Peaks after skiing, interior BC is really epic with some of the lakes and mountains you drive by. As sad as I was to leave Revy behind, Sun Peaks is a hidden gem. Lot of fun cruisers with immaculate grooming, some glades and steep bump runs as well. It doesn't have the advanced terrian of Revy but it has a great laid back vibe. With a cool, little ski village that you can ski right through.

The mountain surrounds the village on three sides, started out with some fast cruisers on the main side of the mountain and worked my way to the Morrissey side, it snowed lightly all day which softened up some of the bump runs nicely. More snow in the forecast for tomorrow for my last two days in Canada.

That looks awesome. Is it all the same resort? Can you get to the other side in your last photo? Without getting down and riding bus or something.

Yeah at sun peaks you can ski all the way around. I also think/remember a tunnel underneath the road at the far end of the mountain (left in Fargo's pic)

Bachelor has been nothing short of maniacal, this past week.
We get two days of rain tomorrow and Thurs instead of snow and then the snow faucet opens back up again.
Bachelors season has been the heaviest in 26 years at this point. 70” base before Christmas.
I’ve never seen this much snow on resort.
18 DEC ADD:
20” storm rolling in Fri 20 DEC;
30” storm projected to roll Fri after Christmas.

Made it to WA and was going to ski Crystal today. 410 was closed from trees on the road around 7am so headed to Snoqualmie. Hit pouring rain on I90 so checked road status of 410 and it was open, so made a uturn back to Crystal. Glad I did, had a wonderful first day out of my season. Sun was out, even with rain yesterday up to the summit the snow was soft in sunny spots and the good kind of butter. Got about 14 runs in from 10am-2pm. Legs are still doing well surprisingly.

One of my best friends’ home resort is Crystal.
Her family house a place in Issaquah.
She’s a beast.
Anyway, I’ve heard incredible things about Crystal. PNW was a damn good choice. Cheers man.

Nice, I spent the night last night there and in that area again tomorrow night. Crystal can be a lot of fun especially on a powder day. No powder this week but I'll take soft snow

The views at Crystal on a sunny day rival anywhere in NA.

Last day at Sun Peaks delivered an awesome powder day, the sun also finally made an appearence. The storm knocked power out to the resort for a few hours last night. Today I hit the Gil's area prettty hard and the powder was knee deep in spots. Sad to leave, this powder will be good for another couple of days

Probably my best early season trip ever, Revy and Sun Peaks both delivered big powder days. Basically no lift lines at either place, no powder rush which was nice for a change.

Finished up 2 days ago Crystal and 1 at Snoqualmie. Snow softened up nicely in both spots especially Crystal. Locals were complaining about snow quality but compared to living down south I'll take any snow. Next trip up is Aspen on Thursday!

Was made aware of this chairlift accident at Heavenly yesterday, looks like on the Nevada side one of the chairs ended up sliding backwards into the chair behind it and sent 5 people to the hospital after falling off the lift. Might be a good reminder to use the safety bar...

WTF is going on with lifts this season? Winter Park had to evacuate 100+ people from the gondola because of an issue.

Four of us liftys sprinted from the lift ramp as a child was holding on to dear life, from the clutches of dad’s hands on the lift chair yesterday.
We got the fire mat deployed and yelled for him to drop the kid.
All of a sudden dad got super human strength and pulled kid back into chair.
Crisis averted but we were ready.
As liftys, we can only do so much. Keep safe out there.
Feliz Navidad

Santa brought us Fatman and Littleboy rolled into one.
It’s atomic out here.
Last week, 30 inches were predicted for this storm.
They were wrong.
Almost eight feet is coming in the next four days.
Bonus - me and roommate in locker room this morning for our Christmas morning safety talk:

I’m planning a trip for this time next year.
Leave the day after Christmas and come home after New Years.
I’m pretty good, but my wife sucks and my kids have never been skiing at all.
Can you ski pros recommend a good resort or area for this time of year that has fewer people, has a few ski schools for kids, easy skiing for kids (prob will be doing a lot of green runs)? My kids are 16 and 10.
I’m partial to CO, but will go anywhere.
Any recommendations or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: night skiing is a huge plus.

I did very close to what you mentioned for this year and am currently in Aspen. Left day after Christmas, flying back 12/30. The town has surprisingly not been very crowded, the skiing has been great, and for the most part friendly people.
There's easy skiing at Snowmass and Buttermilk for the children. Plenty of events going on in the town and surrounding area.
I'm not suggesting you stay in downtown Aspen, but maybe in Basalt or Carbondale and drive to the mountains. There's free buses as well from the park n rides that take you directly into town or the mountains. Would give it a look

Any recommendations on restaurants? I’ll be there (staying at view line snowmass) in mid March.

We went to Zane's tavern last night in downtown and that was reasonably priced with good wings/sports bar type vibe. Funny enough we took a piss in the view line bathrooms this morning before heading out at snowmass. If I find another good spot before I leave Monday I'll let you know

The stew pot in Snowmass (very close to view line). Causal spot. The habanero pork stew is amazing.
il poggio is good Italian, also very close walk.
French alpine bistro in Aspen is another good spot. Roughly 30min bus ride into town from Snowmass
