2022 was pretty jam packed so I thought 2023 would be a little slower…but I was wrong.

5 new countries, 6 total (Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Leichtenstein, and Jamaica, plus Mexico)

Highlights…Switzerland. The Lauterbrunnen/Grindlewald/Jungfrau region is like a fairy tale land. I’ll be back.

Dachau left me in awe and amazement and sent me down a WWII rabbit hole.

All-inclusives in Montego Bay and Playa del Carmen were great.

Underrated trips…Woodstock, Ga to see family with Amicalola Falls and Helen, Ga added in.

Snowmobiling in Park City was another highlight.

I love live music/performances so I always add them to my travel/events list for the year.
Zach Bryan at Smoothie King was an incredible sight to see. To see the sweaty navy guy I started watching YouTube videos of during Covid, turn independent artist, then sell out an arena to fanatical fans that knew every word or every song with almost zero radio play was utterly impressive.

Shane smith at the Texas club was one of the best pure live performances I’ve seen in years.

Several shows at the Red Dragon and closing the year out with Billy Strings in NOLA.

Also caught Bert Kreischers fully loaded comedy festival at Smoothie King, but the comedy highlight would be seeing Dusty Slay at Chelsea’s.

New Countries: Mexico
New Airports: CUN, PDX
New Airlines: BREEEEEEZE

Shortest Flight: MSY-AUS, 444 miles
Longest Flight: MSY-LAX, 1670 Miles

Total Airports: 15
Total Flights: 23
Total Miles: 19534 Miles

Also had road trips to the beach (Don't even really remember where, Alabama I think) and Broken Bow, OK.

January

Combination work / work party / snowboard / hang with friends trip. This was our longest one at 9 days, though I did have to work in the office for the first time
The party made up for it though. And so did the mountains, it snowed for 3 days straight. Some of my best days riding were on this trip.

Welcomed our second child in March, so travel was paused for a while.

Late May, Early June

Flew to LA to watch the Dodgers take on the Yankees with a friend. I found out Mammoth was still open and drove there for a few days to take advantage of their crazy season. I got to see this massive beanie I built when I worked for Lamar as well. In LA, we hiked, drank beer and ate BBQ. Good times.

Late June

Family trip for mom's birthday. Little man's first time out of state. He had a blast.

August

Anniversary trip to Tulum, my first time in Mexico. We stayed in a jungle hotel away from the tourist areas. It was incredible. Made about 20 laps around the city on scooter doing all kinds of stuff. Can't wait to go back.

Late August

Road trip with my in-laws to Broken Bow. Nothing special, did a few hikes and relaxed in the pool.

October

Big family vacation to Oregon. It was nothing short of amazing. My 4 y/o son still asks about Oregon all the time.

One week later

Got a chance to deliver a puppy to Rhode Island. My wife and I foster dogs, this was the 11th one we have flown. Most to the Northeast, but also Chicago and California. We found an awesome stone house airbnb to stay at and made a great weekend out of it. Ate Italian in Providence and played on the rocks at Beavertail State Park on the coast.

December

Flew into Boston, drove to New Hampshire to look at some houses, then got a few days on Killington in Vermont. We took little man with us, so he ended his year with 7 states visited. Not bad for a 9 month old
