Jackson has a crazy weather inversion. Bluebird to white out to clear on the same hill on the same run.

Yeah it was crazy to see the weather change from lift to lift at jackson. We had sun off the marmot double then a whiteout off Casper and sublette. The worst whiteout conditions we had were in Laramie bowl, couldn't see more than a few feet in front of you. Also cool that the elevation of sublette is 10,000+ ft, funny flying out and the "We're now at 10,000 ft" flight attendant message made me realize we weren't even at the highest peak of jackson

First time at Steamboat and it was my best day of the season so far...

Might have to move Steamboat to #1 in CO power rankings...I've only skied Vail, A-Basin, Copper and Winter Park but it was some of the best snow I've skied in a while.

Overall it was a great trip that I would highly recommend for a getaway ski vacation. Cool mountain with a ton of terrain geared towards whatever your expertise is. If you want trees, you can find tress. If you want groomers/blues, they have that as well.

Great review, Jackson is close to the top of my bucket list. Kind of kicking myself for only getting the Ikon base otherwise I probably would have booked a trip since they have been getting dumped on this year.

Definitely worth it in my case ($150). I upgraded to base plus the last week it was available for purchase (3 hr wait for a callback) only because I knew of this bachelor party skitrip back in October. I managed to reserve Saturday and Sunday immediately upon upgrading, but needed to wait a few weeks until I could find a Friday res. In total, this saved me $300 on lift tickets since I got all 3 days.

Steamboat holds a special place in my heart as it is where I learned to ride. I’ve been there ten different times, at least.

Champagne powder is a real phenomena.

How are the lift lines at Steamboat? Headed out there next week.

Lift lines at SBS are good as soon as you clear the top of the gondola.

Top of gondola, drop down to Sunshine Express. Ride up Sunshine, traverse left and back behind the top (there’s a gate) and drop into the trail headed to the bottom of Morningside for first chairs.

It you’re gonna be later waking up, get up Sunshine and ride Tomahawk or Sunshine lift line down for the midday fun.

Also, I recommend Strawberry Park Natural Hot Springs.

It’s a bit of a ride uphill (30 min) from SBS but well worth the journey.

I was there on a Sunday, once you get past the cluster at the base area it was pretty good, although morningside was pretty backed up so I only skied a few runs back there which kind of sucked. That said, I was skiing onto most lifts by the end of the day.

Another solid day of skiing at Copper Mountain, tomorrow hitting A-Basin before heading home.

I love Copper. I’d ride it over Breckenridge any day.

I’m headed out again to BigSky 3/11.

Let me know if y’all are around and I can link up.
BigSky is my #1 in US North America.

My cousin is avalanche rescue/ski patrol there. If you see a tall blonde guy with a small yellow lab mutt on the mountain tell him you know me

A-Basin is the place to go during the week, skied onto almost every lift and just had a blast. This turned out to be a fun trip, wasn't even planning on going anywhere until I found a cheap flight into Vail.

Wish I was going to be there, Big Sky is also my favorite mountain and I still have a few Ikon days left there. Conditions look great, have fun.

How do you guys go on so many damn trips each season? Do you live in driving distance? I'm jealous and lucky to get in one.

Hitting up A-Basin for the first time tomorrow. I’m super excited. I have another Friday booked at the beginning of April for a sans kids outing.

Looking at Fat Map, the pitches of their runs are no joke. Devils Crotch which is one of the steeper doubles on the lower section of Breck is listed at 33 degrees. Most of the runs off Pali are in the high 30s/low40s. Hopefully this little storm tonight overdelivers.

I live in Denver. I’ve gone every weekend except one since the opening day at Vail. Two of my planned long weekends have been canceled this year so I’ll prob get to 25 days. I feel like I go a decent amount.

However, check out the Ikon leader board. The #25 person is at 76 days. A few people have 2m+ vertical feet. One of those guys has averaged over 27k’ over 90 days. That’s a machine living the dream. Ive read that the Aspen townies ski 120+ days.

I can sympathize with your jealousy.

I’m getting in three trips year because at 43, I have no kids, never been married and work for myself.

I have 12 days this season and should get 5 more. Not bad for living in Baton Rouge.

And I should have bought an Ikon.
